Based on reading the thread this week, I think I might be flipping them

If it's really windy out there tomorrow, you may wanna just hit some knock down shots with your 7i as an alternative.

I tend to flip wedges when I don't go full bore on them, so I do the opposite of most people and try to take full speed shots with them

Hit more club but take a shorter swing to keep the ball down out of the wind

You take an extra club and a shorter swing because the harder you swing, the more spin you put on the ball, and the wind will eat it up. Typically finish with your hands low as well.

similar except punch shots are usually for shorter distances or lower trajectories. knock down is more of a shot that bores through the wind on a lower than normal trajectory.

Not really, a punch is usually a really low shot. Knockdown is just a full type shot that never gets all the way up. You can hit knockdowns up to a pretty good ways out

Some advice that may help ... back when I was working with a "coach" so to speak, he would have me do drills with a 6 iron. I would hit what would be considered 3/4 punch shots. 20 where i would roll my wrists at impact, 20 where i would semi-roll my wrists, and 20 where i would finish with the club face open. This helped me a lot with not only finishing through the ball, and not flipping, but also ball striking. Another good drill for those in here that is having trouble with flipping, is take an old wedge, drill the end of the grip out, then take a shaft and hammer it down in the end of the wedge. Go out and it chip shots, and pitch shots with that club, having the shaft under your arm pit. If you flip, your ribs will be black and blue the next day.
