Oh and I didn't post in that longest drive thread earlier but the way the fairways play like concrete over here I hit 4 drives over 300 but my average was probably closer to 190 thanks to the shanks that hit the trees and bounced back at me

Yep, it's less than 1/2 mile from my house but I haven't played there in over a year
So you're my neighbor too.

we played there either last year or the year before because every course around houma/raceland had a tourney. it is a tie for the worst course I've ever set foot on

Old Plantation on the westbank was even worse but at least it's shut down. About 20 years ago the guy who ran Fashion actually had the greens in perfect shape and was starting to do something with the fairways. He ended up selling the business and moving when he retired from his plant job.

honestly net if you are going to play bayou, drive 10 more minutes to raceland and play sugarland. same price but sugar has 18 different holes.

It was still off to the right rear of the green last time I was there. A new guy took it over a few months back, I hear he has plans to redo the fairways and greens a little at a time. I know he fancies himself to be a good player but he played one of the amateur tournaments at the TPC earlier this year that most of the better golfers in the state play in; he didn't make the cut and was around 90 each day.

i do remember thinking that the ob stakes in the middle of a golf course were kind of strange, but there was actually a good par 5 then par3 in the back right corner that were actually pretty good

#3= 510 yard par 5 water fronting the green
#4 210 yeard par 3 pond about 20 yards short of green, ditch and pasture if you just went over the green.
#5 was a good dog leg right par 5 but when the old oak tree fell after a storm it made it easy, just fly over the dog leg and ob to the fairway.

#5, thats it. hit a terrible drive and went ob while i was looking at the ball on the course. never been so mad about reteeing in my life

Between the tiny greens(you cannot go over them), ob, and no grass on fairways it's real easy to run up a high score.

trust me i did. its probably better to grow up playing stuff like that tho. too bad I didnt take up golf until I was 20

I was in mid to late 20's. When I was younger I laughed at golfers, hitting a little ball that sat there. I used to tell them to step in the box and see if they could hit the balls I would throw. Once I tried it I was hooked.

same here, now I wish i would have given up all other sports to play golf. baseball was always my favorite sport, now i only watch LSU when I can and maybe the world series, but I watch the bottom of the barrel PGA events if I'm home
