Your intentions are irrelevant I don't have a lot of sympathy for players and the new rule. You know the rule, so avoid questionable hits and you're fine. Most of these guys are top notch athletes, and as such, should be able to make a simple adjustment when a player becomes defenseless. Hit with your head up and you'll be fine.

I have no qualms with the ejection. I knew he was goner from the get go. I just find it funny that people want to call it dirty or act like the kid is tPOS. It's football and every team will have someone ejected at some point. The fact that they are elite athletes and the game is so fast, you are going to make a poor judgment call at some point.

You can call him a tPOS but he is my tPOS.

well he did get him with the shoulder, after he got him with the head. That is usually how it works

Shouldn't his head be going backwards in the second photo? To me it looks as though his head is to left and contact is yet to be made.

Sliding + leading with head = he gone

I hate when the QB leaves the ball high across the middle and a flag is thrown when a FS drops the WR with a hard shoulder. I see how they taking out certain hits, but that one is dirty as hell.

I wasn't the one taking the time to freeze frame it.

Helmet-to-helmet? Check
Leading with helmet? Check
Target was clearly sliding and going down? Check

Yeah, this is textbook

Can they make it 3D? It's still not conclusive.

the same people saying yes are the same ones complaining about the nfl being pussified.

he was already starting his hit as the QB started to go into a slide. it was basically at the same time. plus, he led with his right shoulder, not his head. his head never hit the QB.

notice the first two pics are one single step and the third shows the shoulder hitting the QB

Let's be real here. If this were helmet to helmet at this point, Mitchell might've gone unconscious.

this hit is a guy trying to deliver a hard hit while staying within the rules in my honest opinion.

is he seriously supposed to pull up before the slide because it's a QB and he might slide? no that's absurd

I do think he deserved an ejection based on the rule though.

ETA: pointing this out so we can disagree.

That wasnt dirty at all. It was an illegal hit for sure, but he wasnt trying to injure the guy.
