No. Basketball fans know this.

Houston fans know this.

America knows this.

Evidently Spurs fans don't know it.

Harden deserved it last year, but the haters were quiet. Then he has an even better season and earns the award again but actually wins it, and they can't stand it. LeBron fanboys gonna fanboy i guess.

Regular season award for a regular season player

Mvp doesn’t really mean shite. We all know it.

Case in point: does anyone think the legacy of Russell Westbrook has changed since winning the mvp last season?

It is a meaningless award

No. It didn't help David Robinson's legacy either, especially after he faced the real MVP in the playoffs that season. As for the actual debate, Harden earned it based on his regular season performance. This is undeniable.

LeBron fanboys are salty because they want him to have some sort of hardware since he loses more Finals than wins.

So the NBA shouldn't reward the regular season MVP? Ok.

People forgetting that before he got hurt KD was leading the league in blocks. Think about that.

If you blog boys want to give it to best player, then KD is your guy. See LBJ afraid to guard him this year.

But for best season? Harden.

Steve Nash won 2 mvps and no one will talk about him in ten years. Rings will help your legacy over any individual award.

Really? Would you say the same about Chris Paul at this point, who will also be a HOFer and possibly have no rings? Because Nash is in the same echelon as CP3 at this point.

Rings do help, but I know David Robinson was a great player with or without rings or an MVP. Just because the general public has a short memory or isn't that knowledgable about the sport in general doesn't mean these players won't be remembered.

Gotta love how rockets fans are STILL salty about this. 23 years later...

I'm salty about Harden getting so much blind, irrational hatred from all over, including Spurs fans. The Admiral had a great season that year; i'll leave it at that.

Regular season MVP means very little in the grand scheme of things....

Ok whoopie...... I won an award but couldn’t win when it mattered most.....

He is improving even in playoff performances but obviously has some more steps to take. Two Western Conference Finals appearances including taking the greatest roster ever assembled to the brink is nothing to be ashamed of.

Spurs are a model organization, albeit a flawed one that never became a dynasty by winning consecutive titles like Houston.

Yeah, growing up a spurs fan in the 2000s, I always aspired to be able to follow a dynasty like the Rockets. 4 titles in 8 years meant nothing because they couldn't go back to back.

Yeah... I'll take the spurs history over the Rockets.

Even though they never won back to back.

Should just rename the damn award the Best Regular Season Award or Best Season Storyline Award because that's what it's become, obviously isn't about defining the sport or conforming to a plain English definition interpretation, take Harden away from the sport not much void to fill because LeBron, KD, and Steph are still playing
