so why did you he his wheels to the right when approaching ward?
and why did he punch it right before hand?

yeah I think the slight wheel turn to the right was to try and swing the rear back left to avoid Ward when he saw how close he was. Non race fans don't understand how that works. People also don't realize these cars rear tires are bigger and if I am not mistaken the rear wheels are cantered to the right too.

Those drivers must be completely blind when at full speed and dust is flying.

Hopefully the go-pro video comes out, and it will provide a lot more light into the situation. I think I'm done with this thread though, because it's people just arguing the same thing over and over.

Is there anyway you can post a screenshot? I've looked at it a ton of times and I honestly can't tell if the wheels cut right before or after contact.

Stewart definitely "ticked" his steering wheel to the right , towards Ward... this is right before you see ward jump backwards to avoid stewart

You can't run out in the middle of a race track, just like you can't run out in the middle of a highway. I don't care how mad you are.

I see it now. Thanks.
eta- I can also see how that might have been an attempt to swing the rear wheel away from Ward like another poster was saying. I have no idea.

The deceased was in the same traffic lane as the car that swerved, and Stewart. Steward didn't have the benefit of an unobstructed view as the first car.
BTW: The first car would have hit him had he not turned left. He was in traffic, in the driving lane and the second car (Stewart) only had a second or less to see then react. It's very plausible he never saw the guy, who was in front if his car.
At night, you're not going to see a man dressed in a dark racing suit in front of the car in front of you.

check out the trajectory projection of each car...
LINK
ETA: you can clearly see stewart angling his car towards ward

Also I didnt realize how much the wing on that car restricts your sight to the right .
When I first heard about the incident I assumed yep that a-hole Tony Stewart probably had a meltdown.
After watching the video I dont see how some of you without the facts are saying "he is a murderer and did this on purpose"
Thats a shame and is actually very scary thought that some of you may be on a jury somewhere .Im not saying he did or didnt but to call him a murderer at this time is baseless and stupid.

OK... That looks pretty suspect.

in that short comparison, that looks pretty damning...

Traffic to you means one car 30 feet in front of you going maybe 40 mph?
Damn I'm not a professional driver but if I see the car swerve in front of me I'm going to slow down or swerve with him. I mean shite I do that on the interstate going 70 mph.
