If not injured in 2020 and 2021 he is probably getting 300 wins...

2020- 1 start (12 starts)
2021- missed season (assume 28 starts)
2024- 17 starts (missed about 10)
2026- 1 start
He has missed about 60 starts since 2020, assuming he won half he would have 296 and we would be waiting for 300.
I doubt we see 300 again during my lifetime at least. Cole lost a season and a half due to injury and isn't really close. Skenes is the one pitcher who I thought would have a chance being young and a workhorse but he would need several 20 win seasons. Even if he averaged 15 wins for the next 10 seasons he wouldn't have 200 which makes Verlander and Max more impressive.

Workhorse SPs with dominant stuff that can go full games are gone and it makes me so sad. I honestly thought Skenes could be that guy, but he's lost velo this year and no team will risk his arm with a Verlander type workload.
I agree with another poster that having a guy like that is incredible for the rest of the staff, but I guess preserving their arms is statistically more meaningful.

In all seriousness, pitchers of the past were built different. I don't know why the new guys are so fragile, but there was a time when a starting pitcher who couldn't pitch 9 innings was a liability.
