I'm curious to know how/why some of you know so much about high school football,

I assume that you must work with high school athletics in some manner.

I mean I understand keeping up with local teams, alma mater, kid in school, but you guys seem to keep up with the whole state.

For me I have a child in school at my alma mater so I'm at the games every weekend but trying to keep up with the rest of the state would be just to exhausting.

Zachary returned 3 linemen on offensive I believe from last season and have tremendous depth up front. They and WM are the Teo deepest teams along with Destrehan in 5A. Zachary and Destrehan would be must see if it so plays out as I expect.

I think Destrehan will beat Zachary at home in semis with Emery and that offense. Likely not close.

Yeah, but you know with great detail.

Why do y’all think certain schools are always great at football while others are next to never really any good?

Uhm,

Huh?

You mean like each individual kid or the willingness for the school to make sure they have bigger faster kids?

As Chalmette said, it just means more for some schools.

I follow high school football around here because the talent is usually too of the line and I'm an LSU fan. Like to know who is up and coming and potential recruit.

Th3 games are usually boring and elementary, but hell so has college become.

I used to coach, but like you I have a son that plays as well, but more importantly I just enjoy high school football/ the atmosphere.

I don't follow all team, just the big names, like everyone knows about WM up north, but I couldn't tell you much else except for a few exceptional players.

It's easy to follow schools in South Louisiana because their all so close, I'm in the river/bayou parishes, but I have friends and family in Orleans, Northshore, Baton Rouge, and Jefferson so I have some interest in schools in different areas.

Zachary and Destrehan are both explosive, I wouldn't say an easy win, both have exceptional skill players of course Destrehan has the better running back, but Zachary has the slightly better QB. Destrehan has a small O line, if those big boys are still there on Zachary's d line from last year, they can slow Emery down the same way they did Pooka. Destrehan has a good but not great defense, their secondary is really good, but up front they are young, I suspect K. Brown would have a big game against them... It would probably be a high scoring affair, and a toss up no matter where it's played.

My sons have been in band at their school between 2010 and last season. Enjoyed that, thoroughly, and I enjoy the football.

Trying to enjoy sports without always being glued to a TV or a stream.

Destrehan receivers are bad arse dude. It isn't just Emery and edwards. Freaking tight end is 6'4"himself.

Brown and Torbor are great.

Desteehan offense can do way more than run the ball. Zachary really isn't big on defense up front as much as they are deep and athletic as hell. Well coached too.

Would be exciting game but Emery is better all around back then Pookah and has a infinite better supporting cast of studs.

Yeah they seem to have an infinite supply of skill position players over there, they're all so tall and athletic. Wish we could get some to cross the river lol.

It should be a very good game of it happens( personally I'm hoping for a Hahnville Destrehan rematch lol).

As far as Emery better all around back than Pooka, we will have to agree to disagree on that one. I've watched both since middle school and Pooka has always been the most exciting player on the field, other than size (and the classroom) Pooka was faster, quicker, and a better receiver. For his size he was a good blocker and pound for pound the strongest player on the team. He rarely ever fumbled, which is something I've watched Emery struggle with a little bit... and he never had the help on offense he needed, if they had switched uniforms the numbers he would have put up at Destrehan would have been ridiculous.
