I’ve said it before, but thank God I graduated from there in ‘09. That place has become a complete shite show over the past 10 years.

So many followers who don't know how to lead. As if people were really in pain over Virginia's logo. Virginia. Their logo. Please.

It’s so very sad - pretty soon the great Thomas Jefferson will be vilified

It will be just another mediocre public school in 15 years.
But it won’t have any history, or any real identity.

Dang. You’re the second poster in this thread who mentioned this. What’s going on up there?
UVA is always regarded as an excellent institution, very fitting for the ACC. Politics is tearing it up?

I think the demographics and the politics in the commonwealth caught up with it.
Virginians were a distinct people, like Texans. And we thought of ourselves that way. Our culture has grown so weak though, and we’ve been displaced, physically, and politically, by transplants.
Most of these people live in the Washington DC suburbs. The growth in the region is astonishing.
These transplants largely work for the government or in a dependent industry. And these people now control Virginia.
Look at our senators.
Tim Kaine - Minnesota
Mark Warner - Indiana
And with this changes, there’s been a huge demographic shift at the university. We still admit the same percentage of in state students, but fewer and fewer are actually Virginians.
Imagine if 40 percent of the students at UT came from California, and what that would do to the culture.
The same process occurred within the school administration as well. The older staff and professors retired, and they were replaced by a new generation who were increasingly activist. People who had no fondness for Virginians. You also saw a growth in the pseudo disciplines, which are dominated by these people, and the bureaucracy exploded simultaneously too. And that’s a hotbed for dependents, with an activist streak.
And so the culture died, at first slowly, and then very quickly.
-
We used to have what was called the single sanction. Commit an honor offense, like stealing, and you would be expelled.
When I was a student, you could leave your laptop unattended in the library without worrying about theft.
And that was because of the sanction.
The students have now watered the sanction down.
Apparently it was racist.

Oh, the irony. The students don’t realize that in suggesting blacks stole more often, they are the racists.

Wait, so they’re just changing logos that didn’t even exist until late April of this year?
Why is this significant?
