Why didn't USM use their TO with 25 seconds left?

i think USM was happy to go to overtime the way that last drive was going.. troy picks up that 1st down then they'd have time for a fg? i dunno.

im not sure if you're shaking your head at me or at the decision making by the troy coaching staff. but i still dont understand why they didnt at least make an effort to get in field goal range.

Well, what I was thinking, was that if USM used their TO with 25 seconds left, since it was 4th down, Troy would have to punt. By not using their TO (and Troy using theirs with 4 seconds left), it allowed Troy a hail mary opportunity.

Oh, I agree with you on that. Don't like the 3rd down play call. But, after that, I thought the clock management was good.

im just curious why troy had two timeouts near midfield with 40ish seconds left and decide to run the wildcat

i think that was the scenario, correct me if im wrong.

I thought that they would call the timeout with like 10 seconds left and then try the 4th down play. If they get a first down, then they would probably have a shot at a FG. If they wouldn't have gotten it, then USM would only be able to try a hail mary.

Well, the wildcat play was on 3rd down. So while I agree that call didn't make sense, it made perfect sense to run the clock down to 4 seconds after that point.
