France has got many the same way, not necessarily straight from African countries, but just a generation or two away.

why can't we do that with our suburban white boys?

Because in Europe it is the way out. If Deion Sanders would have been born in either Germany or Brazil he would have been one of the best futbol players ever. In Holland and Germany the lower middle class are factory workers who happen to be white. The ultimate way out is no different than football or basketball in the US.

In the 1920's boxing was dominated by Irish and Jewish immigrants in the US. An economic way to assimilation. College futbol is the real issue.

We are so far away from Brazil's style it isn't even funny.

well you missed the part about youth development

the reason why brazil is so good is 2-fold

they have a HUGE population with a ton of guys from west african descent (aka, great athletes)

they have superior skill to pretty much every other country

we can beat brazil in the 1st. we can smash anyone in the 1st. if we had that + skill...wow

Interest is already here. We need to fix the American Soccer Pyramid, have each MLS team set up its own academy, and get kids in early. The USMNT has gotten by on its athletic ability alone. American athletes playing soccer won't ever be a problem, but getting solid instruction early is precisely what is holding us back.

which is so vexing. The athletes are a given and we have much more money and by far better facilities to help develop players than Brazil. Dont really want to list the arguments for them being better though, they outweigh ours by a good margin.

Man, you should have seen how bad our teams were 20 years ago. The growth of US soccer has been incredible. These guys are much more skilled and tactically better.

yes. i was in person at us mexico in columbus, when we played worth a shite. i remember thinking to myself multiple times, "wow, we could never do this 15 years ago

I am really disappointed with Pablo tonight. And it's like Beasley has forgotten what sport this is.

Jozy is great.

Torres is improving, although he still slows it down too much sometimes. Get it to your forwards feet quicker.

I'm not impressed with Wynn, but Onyewu's first couple of games he was horrible, so hopefully.

Anyone know why Edu isn't available tonight? Injury?

to go through point by point, beasley is just a pussy, and he plays when he wants to

wynne sucks. and dont compare him to onyewu. hes not the physical presence

pussy arse yellow there, thats weak as frick
