Nope. Wide open green.
Their play made no sense. It was like it was two groups playing the same hole. Two were hacks. Two could at least hit the ball. The two who could play would tee off. Then the others would basically tee off into them while they drove to the ball.

Used to be years ago that Marshalls would ride around and police that sort of thing. Rarely do you see that anymore. Saw a group doing something similar at City Park in NOLA two weeks ago, college kids who had no clue.

Yeah. Hard to pay a Marshall these days. We almost called the Pro shop because everyone knows us up there but figured it would be more trouble. We didn't mind that much. Course was pretty backed up anyways. Just sucks having your ball hit or stolen. Especially when you're trying to get up and down for birdie.

I think some places "hire" retirees to Marshal, you get free play instead of pay. Hope I can find a good course that will offer that in about 8 years.

As the golf board's resident turf expert, I have a question. What is the main reason for filling divots in the fairway with sand? Does it help the grass grow back faster or is it mainly so the people coming behind don't find their balls in a hole? Or is their some other reason?

Sanded divots heal in days vs. weeks.
I read that on a golf cart, so it must be true.

I guess it just gives the grass roots something to get a hold of.

I'm guessing it (the sand) holds moisture, and promotes growth faster.
We need turf master to confirm.

Provides a medium for faster growth and a lot of times it's a sand/seed mixture and maybe even some peat mixed in.
ETA: apparently for Bermuda it's just sand. Promotes lateral growth. Leveling off divots is just an added bonus.

It'd be a cool research trial. Try different stuff to fill in divots.
Definitely will try a few different varieties whenever I'm working at a course.

I think that is going to be tomorrow's no slow play message: "Do not experiment on the course"

So what course are you thinking?

Sounds good. The course was in great shape as of this past weekend. What time you wanna play?

8 would be awesome,
If they're booked, we'll figure something else out.

Ok I may try and start getting involved in these threads.
New to golf, had my first lesson down here in Miami on Sunday, hit the driving range Monday am and this morning.
How bad should I be when i start? I need people to make me feel better
