His appearance in the ESPN studio several days ago, when he discussed life in the SEC, was very telling to me.

I know it's a reach, but I really think the way this Cam Newton thing played out, and what he knows, had a lot to do with why he moved on. He coached the poster boy for college athletics for four years, and I think it turns his stomach to see a character like Cam Newton come behind him and receive the same, if not more, recognition.

Not by any means his motivation, but just one more straw that helped him to pull the trigger.

Well, I don't think Meyer had any say in what eventually happened. It became an academic issue.
