last year Easton beat EJ in 3 OT and everyone thought it was a big upset... of course also last year Easton went down 34-6 at Chalmette (as i keep reminding people). sure they came back and won but still.
Easton barely beat 35 36-34 and EJ shut out 35.

Great win for the Central program. I remember when Sid and the other coaches talked to us about building a program, they always mentioned WM as an example and a goal, theres a ton of repect there and its good to see how far weve come beating them at their place in the playoffs

I was a part of the 05 central high tram that was the first team in over 20 yrs to make it to the playoffs.. We were supposed to play West Monroe the 2nd round but got caught looking ahead.
I remember Sid told us on the bus ride home that we should be happy because we had just awoken a sleeping giant in the central program and we should be proud to be the guys that got the ball rolling again
Eta I really wanted to play against my childhood friend Steven Ensminger (Wm qb) for those that didnt know he grew up in central and transfered our freshman yr.
Congrats to those guys tonight

Well while were sharing disappointing playoff losses
If Briscoe doesnt get hurt in the 08 semis, central has a state championship with a win over WM in the Dome....

We wouldve smoked Destrahan in that game if he was healthy, and that destrahan team destroyed WM in the finals...do you even transitive property bro??
But seriously that killed us, we lost our starting QB, and a starting WR that had to be moved to QB as the backup....and he threw a 106 yard pick 6 which lead to us losing by 7 after steamrolling down the field for a TD te first and only drive with Briscoe. (Not bashing Cutno, just saying it wouldve been a very different outcome and that was the killer)
That defense was frickin nasty in 08...and we ha a block party every weak, just ask Brother Martin..they know

With all due respect to Archbishop Hannan and Episcoplal, the Division III championship will be decided next week when Calvary travels to Catholic NI. I believe it is the first home semifinal game in Catholic High history. They are on quite a roll. 48+ points in 7 straight since their loss to Notre Dame (399 points in their last 7).

WM kicked a field goal and was up 3-0. They then sat on the ball the rest of the game. Destrehan threw a deep pass. The WR shoved the DB down with two hands in the chest, caught the ball and scored. WM finally went to their spread offense they ran with Banks. Walked down the field and threw a pick 6 in the end zone. Final 14-3. The defense shut Destrehan DOWN.

I might be outing myself here, but I only threw ~10x against yal that year
.. Just turn around and hand it off, every play.
I'll never forget Coach Saia's post game remarks- "I was hoping we'd at least get a solid return and kick the FG." Our kicker yells, "We still would've lost by 1, Coach." Saia - "Well frick, I'm glad he ran it back then!"

Hard to believe that Dutchtown is the last team standing in Ascension Parish and 5-5A. They are the anti-Dutchtown team this year. They caught some good breaks, win all the close games, and are overachieving in the postseason.
They will probably lose vs. Destrehan next week, but it is different to see them win their first two playoff games, and fairly easily at that.
