Imagine a 20 year engineering teacher making less than the bench sitter. What sad times we live in.
It’s sad, but already happening I’m sure. What’s more important: a basketball player or an engineer? I’m not doubting the talents of elite athletes, and they should get their cut of the pie, and they should be able to make money off of their likeness in regards to autograph signings, clinics/camps, etc.
But we have completely lost our way if we think it’s great that student fees go towards paying an athlete. Some pre-med student that never sets foot in the stadium is supposed to pony up for a rim protector?

Thought the $20m comes from the ncaa lawsuit settlement not tax dollars

What a boring world college sports has become

There is plenty of bloat in the university model now driving up college education costs to a ridiculous level. The new era of college sports might be the straw needed to break the camels back for good.

And you dumbasses think the same thing isn't happening at bumfrick LSU? I've already dove into their creative financing on the balance sheet, athletic admin revenue of $20+ mm is just LOL
