This is one school that went thru the mascot change and came out better…. With something original, a tribute to regional history and on top of that the ability to intertwine some military history.
Now delta airlines needs to step up their game and sponsor their stadium or something.

ULM(NLU) should still be the Indians
Hell its located Ouachita Parish … that should have been enough to keep the name

Delta/CocaCola/Lumen(Centurylink) should all give more but 2 of the 3 ties are all gone from the region and all the old Monroe centurylink brass have retired or died. Pretty sure they will be completely gone from Monroe in the next five years.

I was told it’s written down that they’ll never leave for some reason…

Not sure if that is true but I think Clark Williams is still on the board and I am confident he will do all he can to keep a Century presence in Monroe. About like Hank Biedenharn that was on the board at Delta that was the majority stockholder for a while and made all the Delta brass come to poor little Monroe for the annual stockholder meeting. Yep, you would think there would be a lot more involvement between the likes of Century or Lumen, Delta Airlines, and Coke since all have major roots tied into Monroe. Heck, even Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson is a NLU grad but he is more ate up with LSU than the school in his backyard.

Clark Williams has been dead for years. They signed an agreement to stay until 2025. Glen Post retired and they have all the Level 3 guys from the merger in top positions and they don’t want to be in Monroe.

Sorry brain fart. I knew he was dead. Shite, I think he has been dead for maybe decades, not years. I meant Harvey Perry. I guess he is on the board still or at least he was when I lived back in Monroe for a little over a year back in 2018. My aunt by marriage is a Williams from Oak Ridge.

When I was there it was Indians. I lived in Olin Hall.

My alma mater changed BOTH it's name and mascot, yet the alumni association still asks me for $$$.
I have mixed feelings on the inevitable name change at Tulane.
The upside will be the wailing and grinding of teeth in Lafayette....
