It was a great fight once you realize how Strickland neutralized and overcame one of the best wrestlers in the UFC

The only other fighter who negated Khamzat’s wrestling was Gilbert Burns and he’s a world BJJ competitor.

Agreed, don’t assume they are running it back, and Chimaev goes up

It felt like the whole thing was a work.

Chimaev took him down with ease and did nothing with it. Never secured a body lock. Then the 2nd rd he starts flopping around and doesn’t try a takedown?

On top of that they’re best friends the second they get in the ring?

Did you watch the DDP fight? That was all he did in rounds 1-3

Finally got the crucifix in round 4 maybe?

Sean was known as a grappler early in his career. He changed his style after his motorcycle accident.

His takedown defense is better than Dricus.

Think you run it back. Chimaev was seen as unbeatable.

133-98 Signifucant strikes for Strickland. 6 mins ground control for Khamzat and 3 min ground control for Strickland. NO ONE has ever controlled Khamzat

Love it for Strickland, but wtf went wrong with Chimi's weight cut? He looked like he was a pinky away from choking Sean in the first. Then he boxed? Everything was just weird. Good for Sean to sticking with his game, and title well earned. Hopefully we see a re-match soon.

Will be interesting to see if he tries to cut again after all this. It wouldn’t surprise me either way it went with him moving up or them eventually running it back.

Sean was never in trouble on the ground and Khamzat didn’t want to gas himself.

He felt Sean’s takedown defense and knew it would gas him if he spammed takedowns.

According to Dana White Chimaev walked up to him after the fight and said he wants to move up in weight. Dana said he is done with 185.
