Topuria isnt a star yet. He is a great talent but he has had two big fights. Hardcore fans certainly respect him but i dont think he is a needle mover with casual fans yet.

I think Miocic catches Jones with a wild punch and produces a savage highlight reel KO. Shocking upset.

Well, of course, that was my point. This is why I called them PPV stars

I've taken your comment under advisement and determined that I don't give a shite.

He's been gone 3.5 years. Had that eye thing. Definitely on the back end of his career. Watch the first 3 minutes in the video below - if he couldn't get Francis down, and then got reversed by Francis, and had to deal with some big blows as Francis had his back, it seems Jones will likely get Stipe down and finish him, or simply control the grappling and set up shots, do damage, and that's it. Francis was very measured and patient in this fight. Jones has better cardio and doesn't have to be as measured.
I'm rooting for Stipe. I've enjoyed his career. I just don't think this is a good matchup for him and like I said, I think that 3 years ago he was the old lion that got knocked off the mountain. Still too much for anyone to handle, except a Francis, or Jones, or probably Aspinall. But that's not the standard for him. Holding the belt is the standard for Stipe.
I'm just being honest, and this is a time when I'd be happy to be wrong. Would be a great story for him to come back and win the belt again. I have no problem if I'm proven wrong when this fight takes place.

in case you weren’t paying attention, that badass MOFO doesn’t give a shite

I just hope Stipe puts up a better showing against Jones than Ciryl Gane did. Just want to see a decent fight. The pressure got to Gane or something, embarrassing loss to Jones. Seems like almost everyone is writing Stipe off, would be fun if he won just to see how it would mix things up.
I still think Oliveira could beat Islam. But I think the loss to Islam affected him. Now it sounds like Charles himself is not sure if he could beat Islam. Hope there's a rematch someday.
Chandler is exciting, but aside from the head kick to Ferguson, he's actually lost 3 out of his last 4. Waiting for Conor--Chandler could have probably fought five or six times during that whole waiting period.

Trump said he was going to this pay per view on Rogan. Very excited to see Nickal fight again, been following him since high school

He couldn't take Francis down and got knocked out, but Jons not a knockout artist. Miocic is a way better wrestler than Jon's last opponent. I don't see Jon taking him down as easy. Miocic is good on the feet as well, I think he gives Jon a tuff fight.

Great Bo Nickal, the Michael Jordan of grappling

Yeah, this was my exact reaction to this part of the comment. I mean, just look at how many finishes he has in the UFC against very good competition. Plus, the fact that the UFC put him as the main event for their biggest investors (the Middle East) shows how confident they are in this star and PPV power. And especially after his last performance, he is in the conversation for Fighter of the Year. If that isn't a star, I don't know what is

If you're curious what conspiracies to embrace for this card, it appears the UFC is not using the gloves that are supposed to reduce the incidence of eye pokes - if Jones pokes Stipe, you're going to hear about this.

Dana brought back the “old gloves” after jones went on his rant the other day. Gotta let jones get those eye pokes

Anyone ever watch a UFC card at the movie theater? Thinking about trying it for this one. I'm imagining what kind of people the three other strangers in the theater along with me would be like.

Jon Jones has an 84” reach, but it’s actually 86” when he’s eye poking.

On the weigh in show, they said the research didn't show that they decreased eye pokes and fighters preferred the older. Both gloves will be rotated between shows for the time being.

The Fight Disciples podcast was saying that the early data is showing a sizable decrease in knock outs with the new gloves.
