Right that’s what I was getting at with my Lamar Jackson comparison, if a team can ever make Lamar have to beat you with his arm, it doesn’t usually fare well for him. If Islam had to just stand with DP, it wouldn’t have ended well for him, but alas it’s mma and the ground game is part of the package. But also, that doesn’t mean that Islam is an elite striker just because he’s effective at it due to opponents being afraid of the takedown.

If Islam wants a legacy among the all-time greats he needs to try for the belt at 170. He’s beaten everyone at 155 and I don’t see anyone there who can beat him anytime soon. He could carry that extra weight easily IMO considering he probably shows up at 170 + on fight nights anyway.
