With this fight’s timing, he will have to wait for the winner of Armen/Charles to fight Islam in the fall.
Arman & Charles are also fighting on this card. Why do you assume the winner of that would get a shot over Gaethje?
I still think Gaethje will fight Islam in the summer

Because Charles beating Armen or Vice versa is better than Justin beating Max. But I see that any of these 4 will need time to heal after their fights. So they won't be ready for June. I wouldn't be surprise to see Islam vs Leon in Saudi. That or Benoit St Denis has an outside shot of getting a TS if he looks good vs Dustin.

Press conference was hype. Sean is such a great entertainer. I like dricus also seems like a cool mfer. Should be a great fight.

Can't believe we are almost at UFC 300. I remember UFC 1, UFC 100, UFC 200.
I'll be interested to see how the Canadian crowd reacts to Strickland when he walks out. If they like him, it could send pretty strong, negative signals about Trudeau - I know that's political so nothing else on that - but it could be a legit story line from this event. Not a big fan of politics infiltrating sports, but we're in that moment, so we just have to see where this goes. I hope it does not distract from the fight. I think this title fight could be amazing. I'm guessing this fight will be hard for Izzy to watch.
Early days...yes some dude showed up with one boxing glove.
UFC 100
Lesnar gets redemption against Mir at UFC 100, went on to UFC 200 against Mark Hunt and was likely juiced, felt bad for Mark. He was pissed about that.
Jon Jones pulled from UFC 200 for doping...of course. Sub in Anderson Silva and that was, well, it was not good.

DDP is such a cool guy, have to root for him in this one.

Strickland better than any wrestler on the mic in a decade and his crowd psychology is insanely good. He had that crowd ready to run through the building walls every time he spoke.
Thats one of the better pressers in a while.

Man, I'm just happy to have fights on tonight at all. Sometimes cards that are super hyped end up being lackluster, and sometimes cards that look underwhelming turn out to be the real bangers. Maybe we'll get lucky tonight. I enjoy them either way.
This will be an interesting litmus test for Strickland. Was he just a bad match-up for Izzy? Or is he more than that? I didn't know what to make of Strickland before he beat Adesanya. I thought maybe he was just a journeyman / also-ran type. Also felt like his strategy of constant pressure / going forward was too one-note. I remember him losing the decision to Cannonier at the last fight of the year in December 2022. Think maybe I remember him getting KO'd by Pereira. Then I was surprised when he beat Magomedov. Thrilled when he rocked Izzy and went on to win.
Dricus seems stronger and more dynamic as a fighter than Strickland. What Dricus did to Whittaker was impressive. I'm rooting for Strickland, but he's going to have his hands full with Dricus, and I'm not sure he can beat him. I'm sure Dricus is aware of what a great opportunity this is for him, and he seems like he has that laser focus and drive to become the champion, so. I think he might pull it off tonight.
I would almost be surprised if Strickland wins, especially handily. There's also something with Strickland where you know he doesn't really care about being champion / if he's champion or not. So does Dricus want it more in that sense? That said, Strickland was legitimately mad with Dricus's trash talk about his childhood, so maybe that anger will give Strickland the edge. Should be interesting to see.

For sure man. 296 sucked and then this long stretch without fights sucked. Great news is these next few months have some great fights.

So it’s okay for Strickland to cross the line but Dricus can’t?
Total hypocrisy

Cachoeira needs to be cut. Chick has learned nothing as a fighter… unfortunate as she is a chick with alot of power.

Dominate first round for Robertson.

I've liked Robertson since she got to the UFC. Always solid. She dominated there.
