PPV likely 1.7-1.8 million, according to Dana.

Conor's gameplan was obviously to rely heavily on kicks. The fact that he tried the guillotine is signal to me that he was reaching for something else. The current Poirier is durable as all hell at 155 and gets stronger throughout a fight. The guillotine attempt was pretty telling.

Yeah once he tried that, i knew it was a sign that Connor was desperate. Wasted a lot of energy when he needed all he had left to defend against the ground and pound that everyone knew was about to happen.
His only chance was weathering the storm until the round was over but the UFC gods decided to spare McGregor further from anymore damage to his brain by making his leg snap.

Nope. I went back and watched the entire fight Conor threw like 12 HEAVY lower leg kicks with that left leg AFTER that kick. It also wasn’t really a “checked” kick

And there was no grimace or any sort of Indication that the ankle was hurt on that kick

Maybe so, but He obviously hurt it somewhere in that stretch. A shin doesn't just snap like that.

Yeah I am seeing a lot of ignorance pointing out Connor’s guillotine. First of all it was mistake even trying that. He never had DP in any danger and he ended up in full mount position when Dustin easily got out of it. Connor’s big chance against Dustin was to come out guns blazing and hurt dustin early and try and finish. Instead Dustin dominated the first round. My two cents, Dustin was only going to pour it on more and more as the fight went on. Probably would have finished in round 2 or 3.

These guys are literally high on adrenaline. He’s not going to grimace.

Cormier explained how it likely happened post fight.

It’s pretty clear from the replay that Dustin felt something on that kick.

But Conor didn’t?

Maybe I’m wrong, but what does it matter? Are we trying to say Dustin’s knees are strong as steel, or are we saying Conor was winning until he fractured his leg on a check by Dustin?
It shouldn’t matter how it happened. It was a freak accident regardless and Conor lost because of it.

surely nobody here believes he snapped his tibia like a slim jim from just throwing a punch right? he obviously hurt it someone before that.

if it were his ankle I'd say maybe.....his leg? no way

Happens in basketball and football all the time, and they have support from shoes. Repeated trauma to the same area over decades takes a toll.

Do you think it feels good to kick someone as hard as you can? Guarantee he thought he just tweaked it and carried on without realizing it was fractured. Everything they do in there hurts, it’s very hard to tell you’re seriously hurt until the adrenaline wears off unless it’s something catastrophic

If he’s not aware of it during the fight, it’s possible something happened in camp that he wasn’t aware of.

How hard Conor was throwing those kicks makes me think he cracked it img the ring then rolled his ankle just right and pressured the joint/bone and it snapped

What's funny is Conor fought Khabib as well as, and maybe even better, than Poirier and Gaethje.

Poirier, who is very good at submissions, said that guillotine he had on Khabib was deep and usually is all but impossible to get free. 99.9% of fighters would have tapped or went to sleep. He said that Khabib easily got out because he is ridiculously strong.
Khabib really is the GOAT in my eyes.
