I heard he plans to beat Hendricks, fight Anderson Silva, and then retire.

So we probably won't see exciting GSP again.

I think the most frustrating thing about GSP is that we all know how awesome and exciting he can be, he just choses the easy way.
I can't say that I blame him, but it definitely difficult to watch over and over again.

Then put me in the blame his opponents crowd on this one. If GSP can halfass and still beat you then that's on you.

Perfect example, Diaz had him standing up half the night and essentially laid back. That's just as disappointing IMO.

The threat of a bjj black belt keeps you from making aggressive attacks. If you are already winning the round there is no bonus for ending it early. If gsp goes for a bunch of submissions or ful mounts then it opens him up to arm bars and triangles.

Did you not see gsp move to side control intentionally? That is why. Less threat from Diaz , but less chance offensive efforts as well.

So Diaz didn't actually do anything.

Exactly.

Greatest example of that is the Fedor vs Werdum fight. First real loss of his career came from him being over aggresive and jumping right into a triangle after he hurt Werdum.

He sticks to his game plan and doesn't get over aggressive and he wins that fight easily. He didn't and he lost for the first time.

GSP is extremely disciplined and mentaly tough. Has been for many many years. He is going to continue to do what he does and he is not going to lose, period. Until or unless he takes on a larger opponent at a catch weight (Silva if it happens). His skill set, gameplan, and discipline is just too good to lose to someone the same size as him.

Because GSP didn't give him a chance. GSP controlled with takedowns as usual and he didn't get stupid and put himself in a position for Diaz to pull off a sub.

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any of Diaz's awesome BJJ moves on display.

At 170, GSP can do this as long as he wants and go undefeated.
False. He can't do this to Hendricks.
He's fought strikers, Bjj guys that can't handle the wrestling. Hendricks is every bit the wrestler, but he has those lead hands to win the stand up.

Can't wait for gsp to have to fight a different fight.

Are you kidding? GSP has fought mostly wrestlers his whole career.

Matt Hughes, Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck, Jake Shields, etc.

And he's dominated all of them.

dana was only going to fire or suspend him if he tested positive for weed again.

and imo it would have been a temporary suspension.

ummm thats because silva is a counter striker southpaw. you leave him an opening and he will tear right through it. he isnt know as the guy to go wild and start swinging first
