It's called game-planning to not lose, and I hate it. As I've said before, I would do the same if I were in their shoes though, so I can't hate on them.
ETA: To further my point, what I'm saying is there is no way that condit could have finished the fight spending 50% of his energy straight up running (I'm not saying figuratively he ran, I'm talking about how he was actually literally running in a straight line alot.), and striking predominantly while moving away. I don't like gameplans that do not leave the possibility of stopping the other opponent in favorable percentages. He took out diaz's legs and got on his bike. He did land a couple of significant strikes throughout the fight though, like that sweet leg kick, straight, head kick combo, but he was already hopping on his bike before anything actually landed fully = no power.
On the flip side, condit would not win if he didn't fight this kind of fight. Any time he stood and traded, diaz was getting the better of him. I respect it and hate it at the same time.
I'm also pissed at diaz for not trying to take him down sooner; he should have realized he was losing and tried something new. He threw like 3 attempts throughout the fight, but he should have been relentless with the clinch, take downs. I don't believe saying "cut him off" means anything because the guy lost his legs via 50 leg kicks and it was clear he could not have moved fast enough laterally to close off condit.
The reason the fight leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that condit was slowing in the very end from all the sprinting he was doing. He pecked away at diaz's face and legs, but I don't believe he ever hurt him. If this fight goes 3 more rounds, I believe diaz could have stopped him. That's why it's a meh fight to me. When diaz landed some strikes, you could tell condit was feeling them and wanted to get the frick outta the pocket instead of trying to counter.
But the rules are the rules and condit used them to ensure a "w", so I can't hate on him too hard.

I can't hate on Condit because he out struck Diaz in 4 of 5 rounds, threw more punches (and SP), landed more punches (and SP), and was the only one to land any damage. Diaz never hurt Condit and never did anything close to trying to win the fight (until the last 2 minutes).
And it's not like Condit was fighting scared and not taking chances.....dude attempted several flying knees.

several flying knees AND several swinging elbows that had some serious power behind them..i was just waiting for one of those to land..i do believe Condit tried to put Diaz down with these shots but none ever fully connected, like you said when he was backed up and traded with Nick he was getting eaten up (took several body shots against the fence in round 2) and i think that is exactly why he decided to pick at Diaz with the leg kicks and 70% power punches and try to throw in a power shot when he saw an opening, he fought his fight and came out on top but i can understand where you're coming from, however if he would have done what you are saying and simply tried to trade with Nick chances are he loses the fight
point being that it may not impress alot of fans but at the end of the day the guy is there to win the fight and get paid, and as you said you can't knock him for that

besides why is nick diaz crying anyway. for a guy that is keeping it real he is crying and being a bitch about this.
maybe if he acted as a professional and do press conferences despite not liking them he would have fought gsp before gsp hurt himself.

dude has fought alot of names, but he has lost to pretty much every quality name he's fought. That is, unless you consider the brendan schaubs and skyscraper struves of the world to be quality wins.
He is super overrated imo.

I'm saying he's not super overrated like this guy says. Everyone he has fought in the UFC he has given hell to. Even though Werdum beat the shite out of him he still kept coming and hit Werdum with some good shots. Is he better than the elite in the division probably not but he is still a very solid fighter.

I would not call Nelson overrated. He jus isnt big enough to hang with elite heavyweights.
