No shithead.

but if you keep being civil, we might just let you stay if Couture wins.

Ok, I was just trying to be civil. I will be pulling for Toney for the hell of it but he really has no chance if Randy gets the takedown.

I will let you hear it for a little while if I win but I will let you back if you play nice also

Penn v edgar is interesting because penn's MO is always stuff the takedown and use boxing to win. Now he's been outboxed so maybe he's the one going for the takedowns.

Really he just needs to use footwork to cut off the ring and force the exchanges in tighter quarters so he can rely on his pop.

Smack and Maximus, why do you think that Dana White put Toney in the cage with Couture? Was there something between the two or was it a random matchup?

I'm asking because it seems like it would bring in more people to the UFC if Toney were fighting the likes of a Bisbing or someone like that. It would IMO give Toney a much better chance then going against a veteran wrestler known for great gameplans.

To me it also seems that if Toney gets lucky and catches Randy then it looks bad to the casual fan that tuned in only to watch this type of matchup.

There is a nice article on mma torch where they interviewed alot of the boxing community and the majority of them picked Couture.

Most all of them seemed to agree it's his to lose.

•Champ Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn (for lightweight title)
BJ better bring it like he did against Joe Daddy or Sherk to win this one....can't be a lazy fighter and take this fight....Frankie won't let him relax the entire fight
•Randy Couture vs. James Toney
i really hope not, but with the way randy likes to block punches with his chin lately...i gotta go with toney even though i wish he would lose and never fight MMA again
Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda
subs are too good....just hope he does not catch one like he did in the Nate fight
Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard
nothing against gray, but ken flo is a much better fighter...if gray takes him down he will not be able to LnP against kenny
•Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz
davis is a very one sided fighter to me....diaz does not have a powerful stand up game, but he is accurate....he's deadly on the ground, though

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger
gabe will not be able to fight due to passing out trying to make weight and then crying to his coach to "put me back in"
•Nik Lentz vs. Andre Winner
good, young fighter....should be an impressive win

PRELIMINARY CARD

Dan Miller vs. John Salter
he's scrappy
Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto
because he has a fricked up last name, so you gotta be tough, right?
Amilcar Alves vs. Mike Pierce
because brazilians always beat americans, right?

al i know is Frankie Edgar is a scoring machine, if BJ takes similar game plan into this fight as the last, Edgar wins.

You putting money down? I would imagine he's just as big a dog as he was the first time.

I mean Edgar did win the first time, and I think most people didn't have a problem with the decision that he actually won. It isn't THAT far fetched. B.J. will have to show more aggression then the last time or he will have the same result IMO.

When Toney stepped up, Couture asked for this match-up repeatedly.

Come on man, that isn't even a good comparison. Serra caught GSP with a shot that hurt him and then finished if from there. That can happen in ANY fight no matter what the talent disparity is. Edgar went the distance with B.J. and then won a decision which says a ton about the fight. Going the distance with B.J. can't be a fluke IMO and while the decision can be questionable, I don't think anyone could really argue that decision Edgar got, only the scoring.

I rewatched that fight the other night and Serra beat his arse in that fight.

Saying that...

The third fight of GSP-Hughes, GSP JUST DOMINATED Hughes in that fight.

I think most would support my theory that GSP got hurt in that fight and couldn't really do anything after that. Kudos to Serra for jumping on him and finishing it, but we all know he isn't on GSP's level.

and Hughes was lucky to win the first fight against GSP. I think almost anyone would agree that GSP improved DRAMATICALLY after the first fight with Hughes. TO the point where Hughes had a wrestling advantage the first fight, GSP had a wrestling advantage the second fight, and GSP had a significant wrestling advantage the third fight.

I'm going to be honest and say, I think B.J. is to the point in his career where you are not going to see him improving every fight. He has peaked IMO. I don't know if we can say the same about Edgar. I like the underdog's chances.

Edgar has improved a lot also but I'm not jumping on the banwagon.

BJ Penn hasn't lost since 2001 and the way he trains, he was due. That's it.

I don't think someone who is 5'6" and who got dominated by Gray Maynard is the new coming of the lightweight division.

Now I've been blatantly wrong before.

Gray is a horrible matchup for Edgar. He would probably beat him again. B.J. does not present those same match up problems. I'll tell you now B.J. would destroy Maynard.

are we not counting all the fights he fought over 155? GSP twice and Machida if we are. IF not, how many fights does that really entail at 155 and under? B.J. has fought most of his fights above that weight class since then. No one can be the best forever and I really think we are starting to see B.J. come back down to earth a little bit, even in the 155 division. We'll see

No. It now looks like GSP has a decent shot an An Silva so I'm not going to hold that against BJ, nor a loss to a much legit Light-Heavyweight.

He also lost to Matt Hughes in that time frame for what it is worth.

Killing me smalls. You know I'm talking about lightweight and he also beat Matt Hughes in that time frame.
