And Forrest Griffin...WTF?

You can say that again.

What I'm trying to figure out is how Griffin-Silva got FOTN bonus.

The WEC card last night was 100% better than the UFC card....the only thing that was terrible about the WEC card was the judging...after reading about Florian possibly being ahead and the judges decisions last night in some fights.....getting scary w/ these judges

Exactly. I didn't have one round for Florian and nobody in my house did either. And there were some people there who do not like BJ. Florian did zero damage in that fight.

completely agree with this guy^^^^

From MMA junkie fight round by round

quote:

Penn did enough in the final 20 seconds to win the round on the MMAjunkie.com scorecard, 10-9.

MMAjunkie.com scores another close round for Florian, 10-9, this time.

MMAjunkie.com scores a very close one for Penn, 10-9.

I'm not saying Florian was winning, but he was damn sure controlling the non action. It was a close fight and was in no way dominated by Penn until the 4th round.

And BJ did very very little. It wasn't a good fight, it was Florian controlling Penn against the cage to wear him out and avoid any real action.. it didn't wear him out.

Was he? How? By running BJ into the cage and NOT being able to take him to the ground?

It would have been an absolute travesty had that match gone 5 rounds and Florian won a decision. Like it was said, he inflicted NO damage (BJ kept getting in some good punches at least). And you can't award someone for that fight when a championship is on the line. You have to actually DO something to win the fight, not just TRY to do shite.

And what killed me about Forrest Griffin was that everybody in the house I was at, before the match, kept talking about how good FG was at taking a punch. And then that abomination of a fight occurred. I'm not saying Silva didn't hit him, but it certainly wasn't a shot that should have sent him packing..

He has that reputation because of the first Bonner fight. Bonner has the power of an average LW.

shite Jardine dropped Forrest and Jardine doesn't drop anyone.

yes, that was exactly what he wanted to do... It's better than what BJ was doing for 4 min of each round.

but BJ didn't really do anything.. everyone talks about how Kenny do damage, but he didn't take much damage either.

It was a boring fight with little action. Just the way Florian wanted it.

This. I said it as well before the fight that "Griffin's amazing chin" had taken a folklorish turn all dating back to the first Bonnar fight.

He took more than BJ did though and leaning on someone for 5 minutes doesn't outweigh that IMO.

He took much more damage than BJ Penn did. That's the point.

You can't expect to just hold someone up against the cage, weakly trying to take them down, and expect to get awarded that dude's title.

If I had to pick one I would say this but I don't think he has ever stopped talking.

This is going to make for a great fight. Sanchez is going to get under BJ's skin. These two would make great TV for TUF coaches.

that sounds like a great idea. i know i would watch that. is it me or sanchez wasn't that annoying on the first TUF? he either hid it well or bloosomed into a full out douchebag.
