UCLA nabbed one of the hottest coordinators in college football heading into the 2025 season, but it turns out that partnership is ending before a full season together.
Multiple reports tonight share that the Bruins and offensive play caller Tino Sunseri have mutually agreed to part ways.
quote:
In 2019, he joined Nick Saban's staff at Alabama as a graduate assistant for two seasons before taking his first on-field coaching job at James Madison under Curt Cignetti in 2021.
He would follow Cignetti to Indiana as the Hoosier's co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, helping the turnaround in Bloomington become the story of college football in 2004.
This past off season, Sunseri decided to head west for the opportunity to handle play calling duties solo for DeShawn Foster's program at UCLA.
Foster was dismissed after going 5-7 in his debut season, followed by an 0-3 start to the 2025 season.
Sunseri leaves the Bruins after scoring just 57 points in their four games, ranking 134th out of 136 FBS programs. Both their rushing numbers and passing numbers rank 99th or worse in major college football, and they rank 126th nationally in third down conversions at a clip just under 31%.

Former UCLA quarterback Jerry Neuheisel will take over the offensive play calling duties for the program, and multiple reports share that former UCLA offensive coordinator, and veteran college play caller, Noel Mazzone will be joining the staff as well, pending official approvals.

I have no real opinion on Sunseri, but this is hilarious
Is it 2006?

Mazzone had been bouncing around the UFL the last couple years. Just retreads on their last legs and random coach's kids. Complete shitshow program. Nico should've quit again to not waste a whole season.

NICO IAMALEAVA is now the highest paid football staffer and athlete at UCLA and is making the same as UCLA’s AD Martin Jarmond.
Let that sink in.
Deshaun Foster was the only football staffer making more than Nico…before he got canned, Nico was making a $1M more this season than Sunseri.

I'm more surprised Noel Mazzone is still coaching.
I thought he'd be retired by now.

The editor who approved that article needs to be fired too because there are a lot of errors in it.
