Wouldn’t the easy fix be U High is ineligible for the playoffs and release the brackets
My guess is the TRO basically prevents that.

But for the letters, how were they ineligible?
You have to sit out a year unless it’s a bona fide move to a new attendance zone.
Supposedly these kids stayed in the same attendance zone (kids can be in more than one school attendance zone).
That requires not playing varsity for a year.

Basically this is what happened.....
A kid left Liberty Magnet to go to UHigh, since they in the same zone, Uhigh would then have to have Liberty Magnet sign off on the kid now enrolling at UH. UH never did that, therefore, Liberty still has the kid as a student athlete and his grade transcripts at Liberty, he is still being counted in the enrollment since UHigh never officially filed the paperwork for him at Uhigh. Honestly, I think its just simple mistake by Uhigh forgetting to get every thing signed, but by rule it is a forfeitable offence.

Penalty for not having the letters is a $100 fine, not forfeited eligibility.

Seems like U High tried to emulate the CFB transfer portal and immediate eligibility, but that is not the case in HS.
It should be though and eventually will. Maybe this is the start.

This will also bleed into basketball. How many basketball rosters are made up of at least 50% players that also play football.
If your football team is still in the playoffs, your basketball games (that you lose) shouldn’t count against you in the power ratings

Paperwork aside, didn’t the kid(s) have to sit out for one year, which they didn’t?

My source gave me shitty info. Apparently he is on board with Uhigh somehow.
Yes Uhigh appears to be completely wrong and played ineligible players.
I still don’t understand why next Monday is the fastest they can review this

Also - didn’t the kids enroll last Spring? If so, why would Liberty still have these kids in their system as enrolled students? Wouldn’t the kids never showing up for school have triggered some sort of notification on their end where the paper work issue would have been resolved?
That aside, isn’t this really about Liberty being pissed that a coach was hired away last spring and 2 players followed him, played illegally, and Liberty knew about it all along, but sandbagged on filing the complaint and waited until the end so the punishment given to UHigh would have teeth? Otherwise, UHS would have gotten into the playoffs had they had 2 or 3 wins.

Well. Apparently they felt Uhigh fricked them and so they decided to frick them right back. . By what’s out there.. this is on Uhigh and I imagine they’ve got some really poised families at this point, even if hey aren’t saying it publicly

Quoting KnowItAll from Louisiana Sportsline forums:

As of Saturday morning, I am hearing a possible scenario of UHigh being reinstated in the Division II Select Bracket at this time, that way everything would be on schedule with the LHSAA postseason starting this week, due to Monday being Veterans Day and a holiday, the next possible day would be Tuesday for the courts to be involved. UHigh would then be placed as the #2 seed in the Division II Playoffs receieving a Bye technically. Once the decision would come down this week, if Uhigh wins the suit, they would play the winner of 15/18, they lose the suit, 15/18 winner would automatically advance to the quarters with UHigh having to forfeit that game. The Bracket would then be released as if Uhigh is a 9-1 team, so every division would technically go back to the original power ratings before any lawsuit was published. Hope you understand, as I said before this is a possible scenario that is heavily being persued.

I high should not be allowed in the playoffs.and other teams results should stay the same.

If uhigh wants ride this out.. that may be the best route but what happens when another school files a lawsuit about the seeding. Just seems that giving an inch will result in future problems.. caveat being the lhsaa feels really good about these violations being correct.. Whole thing seems to be a mess.

I was about to ask and say why is Uhigh 9-1 and not 8-2 but hes since corrected that statement it looks like, well hes been on top of all the info on that board so I guess there is truth to it and we wll see if the LHSAA takes that route and puts them in for now so every other damn school doesnt get screwed by all of this.

U High is a trash school. That’s the real problem

The rules are the rules, but this is on the UHigh admin/coaching staff. They should be penalized with a significant fine or something. I just hate it for the kids—especially the Seniors—who are getting hosed from playing in the playoffs because the adults didn’t do their jobs.
I know this wouldn’t be practical because it would affect too many other teams, but what about giving them the very bottom seed in the bracket? Would be a big punishment, but still give them a chance to play. Seniors deserve to know when a game might be the last time they ever put on a football uniform.

Then wouldn’t you be punishing the No 1 seed that draws them in a first round match that would likely be a championship game in the Dome?

So you can cheat all you want and just have rich daddy cut a check for the fine?
I always wonder in these situations, how good was the player? Was he a difference maker? So they win as many games without him?
