Paved the way for other future Hornets. Its not like he sat on his arse.
And regardless of what happened in Charlotte, you can't possibly make the case he's been cheap in new orleans. And he doesn't have to be stupid and pay luxury tax out of his arse unlike any other small market team in the nba.

Bc his franchise was winning too much and the town couldn't handle it.

he's packin it in without a payroll in the top half of the league. think about that

there are some championship teams who don't pay much tax (namely the spurs). they can get aging vets to take paycuts to go there. the hornets can't do this. they also draft better than the hornets

His payroll this year may not be in the top half but our payroll next year will be escalating big time if everything stood pat the way the contracts are structured now. So this year's payroll stance is irrelevant.

So it's Shinn's fault that we aren't getting players to take "pay cuts" to come play here but we're going to hold shinn at the stake when he's been having to OVERPAY for these players to come play in our city. Makes zero sense and sounds like you have an agenda.

an increase of around $10M
they could possibly deal mo-pete and ju ju as a package to clear about $7M

1 player was overpaid: peja
and vets won't take the paycuts b/c we don't have a team capable of winning the title

no i'm just mad that the hornets are giving up on winning a title anytime soon

You are not factoring in the signing of the bench guys of which some are coming up unrestricted. Thats just the contracts that are under contract next season.

trading CP3 is giving up.
as long as he is there they have a chance.
that chance just gets smaller with the lack of a good supporting cast and injuries.

Ok, so next year when Marion walks and Tyson is elsewhere. Our lineup is going to CP3, Mo Pete, Peja, DWest, Hilton Armstrong. That's going to win a title?

the hornets need a ton of luck to win it all with their current roster. that roster is about to get weaker
they're about to deal a good, young, starting center and likely get nothing back in return (joel anthony would be great to get back in return as a good banger)
so we have the current non-title team, with an even weaker front court (which is a weakness)
then without the $17M or so in salaries that we're trading, we have even less to make deals in the future. we'd have to move west to upgrade. he'd be our only piece worth moving.
if the hornets want to make a move, dealing west and butler/daniels' expiring deals for a max-type player (Amare?) could work
but then we'd have cp3, posey, peja amare, and anthony. could that team do work? possibly, but it would have shite for big man depth and no real depth in general
also the franchise sold the 1st rounder to save money. they're dealing tyson/peterson (likely) to save money. why does anyone think that they'll use the expiring deals of butler/daniels to maintain salary? looks like those will be allowed to lapse also

i never said we would win.
i said as long as we have CP3 there's a chance, but that chance hinges on who is around him. with that lineup i would say no.
without CP3 the Hornets don't even exist.

and if CP3 is on a borderline team that has no shot of winning the title, how happy do you think he'll be?
Posted on 2/9/09 at 3:08 pm to SlowFlowPro
I would just like to acknowledge that Tyson has not been traded and no deal has been made so lets keep everything from an "IF" standpoint. Shinn's being blasted for a move that hasn't even been done... yet at least.

it's pretty much official that we're trying to work out a deal with miami to clear space
if it doesn't happen, just wait...it won't be miami this offseason, it will be somebody else (dallas i'd guess)

you people saying this is about shinn being cheap are forgetting about the co owner of the hornets.
he is not at all a poor man like shinn is. if he wants to shell out cash to get someone he can

this game tonight is proof why we cannot trade chandler, our front line is horrendous without him.
