Salary cap space is always the most beneficial thing about NBA trades.

the hornets will not go under the cap if they deal chandler. they will still be over the cap

the hornets will have a lower payroll after this year and will be under the luxury tax

quote:

Chandler's $$$ is not enough to trade for Marion. They will probably have to do a Chandler AND MoPete for Marion for the deal to work.

and CP3 will be making about $15M next year. Peja will be making about $15M next year. West will be making around $10M. Posey will be making around $5M. that's $45M of a salary cap of $55M, and we haven't gotten into Armstrong, Butler, Daniels, or Wright.

which is exactly what we want to be able to be a player in this upcoming free agency.

upcomming means in 2 years when peja's deal comes off the books (and we'd have to release hilton and wright also)?

I don't know SFP. I have got to believe we have more ability to sign players given the extra space of clearing Tyson and Mo Pete off the books and getting the expiring contract of Marion. Maybe the hornets organization doesn't want to pay the luxury tax on a player that feel isn't worth it. I don't know.

I may be wrong but thats still got to be step 1 of at least trying to do so. You have to start somewhere.

no it's 1 step in trying to save money. that's it

salary cap space isn't cleared, b/c we're still over the cap and will be as long as peja is on the books

it's not for basketball reasons past this year, b/c they're supposed to let marion go

I'm not at all a fan of acquiring Shawn Marion for Chandler either. Are we supposed to run on everyone, and let our rebounding suffer because of it?

Shawn Marion is averaging 8.8 rpg, Tyson Chandler is averaging 8.3

Yes, but they won't be paying as much luxury tax as they would be if Chandler was still on the books. It's money saving by Shinn.

and it hurts the hornets in the future

i'm just making it clear that the cap has nothing to do with this trade

It probably does hurt the Hornets in the future. But it's obviously a money clearing move if it happens. If anyone tries to argue otherwise (*cough* HR *cough*) then they're just blind.

According to Harvey Hornet:

Someone we don't want to part with will be gone. When it's all over, one of these three will probably be gone....TC, Julian, Rasual. If it's Julian or Rasual, a bad contract will be going with them.

You guys just don't get it.

Cash > Mario Chalmers

And

Jeff Bower and Byron Scott > Any GM/Coach combo in the NBA

And if you disagree....
