I happen to agree with you on the weed part. shite should be legal to begin with but that's another story. Tyrann definitely has emotional problems and needs help. His life is one of the roughest I've ever seen or heard of and he is extremely volatile kid.

If you are a GM of a team, and say you've got a player who has documented heart issues, has had a heart attack, and maybe a couple scares with fainting. Are you seriously going to give him guaranteed money? Knowing that he could drop dead any given moment?
If I drafted him, then yeah. How many other drafted players receive no guaranteed money?

When you say he needs to be clean in order to be successful anyways, do you really think so? Was pretty successful in college without being clean. There are tons more like him in the NFL. If he plays well for the Cardinals the coach will tell them to scrap the drug tests.

I mean, he can be clean and succeed, but he can also not be clean and succeed, I'm sure.

They should just let him smoke his weed..

How much money will he make since nothing is guaranteed? What if he doesn't play well? What if he gets hurt?
How is this the team's fault. Why should they have to give money away if they aren't sure the investment will be returned? Why is he "entitled" to get guaranteed money?
Honestly this argument could be used against anyone drafted in regards to why teams should give money if they aren't sure the investment will be returned.
That is actually terrible logic, most of these players will bust but they have received tons of money up until that day comes.

Probably will. It will only be a "problem" if he doesn't play well.

I'll give you that, and ask you how many of said drafted players haven't played football in over a year due to getting kicked off a team and having legal and rehab issues.

I mean he is obviously not smart enough to stay clean and play. He couldn't do it at LSU. At least in the NFL, he'll likely just smoke the good stuff and scrap the fake. But I don't think, with his emotional issues, he can play and stay out of trouble.

Just for the record, I am not in favor of giving any incomming rookie, in any sport, drafted or undrafted any kind of guaranteed money. I don't care if it's pick number 1 or the last unsigned, undrafted free agent. UNLESS, they earn it on the field/court/whatever.

It's no different than drafting a guy who's heart exploded.
That would likely qualify for some type of insurance payout so the team would only be out a certain % of the total deal. So no, it's not the same.

Fair enough, but with anything revenue generating activity the players need a form of compensation to protect them on the back end especially if career threatening injuries are involved. I mean you get guarantee money where you work at prior to them knowing what you can or can't possibly do. Its still a job.

I would have no issue with him getting a signing bonus. I don't know if that falls into anyone's definition of guaranteed money or not.

No, Sports Illustrated said TM7 said that. TM7 said the opposite.

yes that is guaranteed.
ETA: that is also my problem with the no guarantee....if it is just on his playing contract it makes sense but if it means no signing bonus I think it is unfair since every guy around him in the draft would get one.

it's his pattern of behavior...not as much the underlying behavior. the dude failed like 7 tests at LSU...then after trying to make a comeback...leaves his rehab program early and THEN gets busted hanging out with some guys moving weight
he has serious, serious decision making issues. a likely reason for this is mental instability of some sort

Wow, sounds almost like an addict.

Serious question though: how do the Cardinals get around the league minimum? Once he signs a contract and plays in his first game, isn't he gauranteed the rookie minimum? How does all of this work?

In games he plays he is but if he gets hurt I don't think he is guaranteed to get paid for the rest of his contract. I am not sure either.
