If Tulane actually becomes a power level team, it will be easier to sell to the media if you are adding them from the PAC-12 (vs. the AAC) in the 2030s
Tulane is a power level team right now, no worse than a bunch of them… but will they ever have a power level fanbase?

Word on the street (aka the internet message boards) is that the AAC's payout to Tulane will decrease with the next tv deal. Right now the new members are only receiving a partial share so Tulane and the legacy members are receiving more money for now.
It very well may decrease, but the current deal is in place until 2031. So there is time for things to sort out.
I'd have to think that the $$ would have to double (to $14 million) for this to make financial sense.
But if Memphis wants to go, we pretty much have to go. And it would be nice for 2 others in this neck of the woods to join us.

Where would they play
Could easily put a new stadium or upgrade the current one at the Fly.

PAC 12?
They are the PAC 2.
If they take Tulane, they can be the Pacific/Gulf Coast 3.

Who else does the PAC-12 need to add to regain P5 status? In reality, there is no combination of current non-P4 teams they could add that would earn them the status of a return to P5 status but they’ll likely get slapped with that label once they return to 12 teams down the road.
Already back to 6 teams in 2026, possibly as many as 12:
Oregon State
Washington State
Boise State
Fresno State
Colorado State
San Diego State
NBC Los Angeles

Will Memphis have to change its name back to Memphis State before they join?

I hope they hold out for ACC. New Pac-12 is barely better than where they are now
