However, Tulane would not bring up the rear in baseball, women's basketball, or academics in the Big 12.
I'll give you baseball would be middle of the pack but the women's basketball team just made it to their first tourney in like 7 years. Every team that is good now in CUSA would probably top out at around 6th-9th in the conference because of the jump in talent.

Womens BBall has historically been pretty good but has struggled lately. Every team that I mentioned is ranked in the top 30 in the country. I doubt that there are that many big 12 teams ahead of them.

Correct. And they will serve beer at the Stadium.

I googled it and found a link to "The Wave Report" and it said Tulane denies this but its a pay site so i couldn't get anymore info.

I love my fellow LSU fans, I really do, but some have the IQ of a ULL fan. Tulane has obviously made a commitment to staying D1 by building a very nice baseball stadium and now it seems to be investing in a new on campus football stadium. You don't do those things if you have the intention of dropping from D1.
I believe the Tulane administration has finally realized that they could have a 1st class athletic program without sacrificing their academic reputation. I say congrats to theTulane fans.

I hope this is the case. To me, there's no reason why Tulane can't have a decent CUSA football team. I believe an on campus stadium could help big-time.
That being said. I'll wait for an "official" announcement from the school before throwing any congrats around.

Neighbors will have this in court for YEARS ! I lived uptown my whole life, I can't see the people who live near here letting this happen. Hell they had a hissy fit when Bruno's wanted to move across the damn street, this is like WW3 ! No way ! Tulane may WANT to do this, but it will never happen

I hope not. I have lived Uptown my entire life as well. Just like people didn't want the renovation of the Audobon Golf Course. That type of thinking has to stop. The entire area around campus on gameday would be great. I am 100% for this, if true.

100mil retractable roof, maybe its being built by a bunch of mexicans.

No way this happens, the council woman Dist A just elected will NEVER let this happen, now had Jay Batt been elected, I would think there would be a small chance, now, not a shot in hell.

If it happens solely on Tulane private property how can they really bitch? They will bitch, but they really have no leg to stand on.

THIS IS HUGE NEWS!
damn I hope this is true, this would do sooo much for the athletic program that I believe can be really big with the right changes.
Hate that I'll be done with undergrad before all the changes take place but still, I really hope it happens.
to the administration if true

Boy, have you got a lot to learn ! The same way you need a building permit on YOUR private property if you want to build any thing, it needs city approval and with out Dist a councial woman on board, this don't get done/.

Even if a 32,000 seat stadium gets built, that won't ever make this athletic program 'really big' as you put it. Tulane's ceiling in football is basically a top 40-50 team. And since football is what makes an athletic program 'really big', you won't ever see them reach that status in your lifetime.

Tulane is the largest private employer in the city. It isn't a bar like Bruno's. If Tulane wants to do this it will go through.

Exactly. The only thing I am trying to figure out is how they think they can construct a retractable roof football stadium for less than 100 million.

Okay, just because I love a spirited internet debate, let's say it does get shot down by the city council. Tulane could still say they are making the commitment to their athletic program. This in itself would show the fanbase and a potential new conference that they are serious about improving their facilities and the athletic program overall.
