Tulane can barely keep up in CUSA as it is, they'd get destroyed in the Big 12.

Of course with they would attract a better athlete in the Big 12.

If fricking USF can be in the Big East .. Tulane being in the Big 12 is not a huge stretch.

USF is one of the biggest schools in the country and it's in a large, growing city.

USF is in the middle of one of the richest and densest populations of football talent in the country

Louisiana has some talent but in terms of the number of quality high school players in easy proximity to their campus... USF has one of if not the best home field recruiting advantages in the whole of college football

USF is actually a program with enormous potential to grow and succeed if they get the right coach

Yeah, the Big East could afford to take a school based mostly on its football potential because of the way the conference is set up for basketball.

That is a pretty big stretch. But, this will certainly help with attendance and over all interest in Tulane football.

1. More students will certainly attend the games.
2. There will be renewed interest in Uptown to attend the games for sure.
3. The area around campus will have a pre-game feel. People walking around and people grilling in their yards and on their porches.

It is a great thing for the Uptown area and should help Tulane's program if they lower admission standards for players and offer PE or other types of majors. I will certainly go to some games. The only time I have had any fun at any Tulane game in the last decade were the games played at Tad Gormley.

Those arguing that this is a stupid decision because we are a dying program or that it won't change anything are wrong. These decisions and unwaivering support from the administration is exactly what tulane athletics needed to reinvigorate the fan base.

Agree on almost everything you said. Student support, tailgating, and the more uptown atmosphere are step change differences. I'd this is true, a very exciting time to be a tulane fan.

my dad works for scott cowan himself (basically his right hand man) and back (a couple months ago) when this rumor came up i asked him to ask him for me and scott said, and i quote "No Way ha ha ha"

ETA: with that said, i sure as hell hope THIS TIME it's true and this could rejuvenate the entire athletic program and definitely our football fan base.

It would be nice to have a new stadium but I'll wait for the email from school before I believe it.

I would have to think that at some point it will happen. Football is too big not to try and capture some of the $action$. I think they recognize this.

I was going to jump in this thread and congratulate Tulane for stepping up to the plate, as I wish all of the schools in Louisiana much success.

Then you start talking about joining the Big 12 and I am speechless. That is perhaps the dumbest thing I have heard. If they were to make a list of the teams that the Big 12 would be interested in, Tulane would not make the top 20. They would start with Utah or BYU and work their way through the Mountain West first

I wonder if Kaare Johnson just "breaks" this rumor every few months to get more callers.

If that is on campus that is the best news for Tulane football since they left the SEC.

Not saying I believe all this will happen, but, Tulane to the Big 12 would be = to Vanderbilt to the SEC. Would that be so bad?

I was not saying that Tulane should be in the Big 12. I said that is USF can get into a BCS conference that Tulane being in one is not a huge stretch.

I also said that would be the best case scenario of making such a commitment.

FWIW - Tulane officials are saying that this is not true. If karre misses on this one - he is a baffon. The way he "broke" this news was WAY different than a few months ago. A few months ago he said that there was talk. Today he is saying it is 100 percent a done deal.
