Unlike Sam Bitchman, I like ECU’s coach not showing mercy to a team and coach that is clearly not accepting it. They went for two, so he tried to score and also went for two.

This isn’t a traditional rivalry, but these schools recruit against each other a ton.
Coastal Carolina got a lot of attention over the past several years, so it’s big for ECU to beat them.
That doesn’t mean this isn’t bush league by Mike Houston. Just giving context.

Don’t know if or how many opt outs but a lot of teams use bowl ro play freshman to prep for next year. More reps is more learning. All I can think of.
Plus, lots of teams are at bowl games days in advance and its normal for some bad blood and smack talk to happen leading up. Notice how many personal foul penalties there are jn games?
And in first half one of the ECU players took towel off CC player and CC player went to get it back and grabbed it from behind player while pushing him and got a 15 yard penalty.
