Maybe I haven't been following this closely enough, but was this injury and its prognosis bad enough that he's going to suddenly go from a first round pick in a highly coveted position to a mid-round pick? Teams already reach for QBs and take a risk because its such an impactful position with such upgrade potential. So unless the prognosis is really bad, I don't see how he suddenly becomes a mid-round pick and teams avoiding that upside potential.

Unless there is some unexpected set back, Tua is going to be a first round draft pick. It all comes down to the team doctor reports come combine time and whether or not he is cleared. Probably does knock him out of the top 5 though, unless a team like Miami has fallen in love with him already.

Forgive me being conservative but you go ahead and gamble your first round pick.
Im not picking him at all.
Not even 5th round.

He already had a little worry with being injury prone.

But yeah the prognosis is pretty damn bad. I mean this injury is a potential career ender. Luckily, doctors have gotten better so he has more of a chance to come back but there’s still potential for having the same thing Bo had. You only know for sure with time

Bo Jackson also continued to play on it and worsening the injury

I mean the Pats picked Dominuque Easly at #32 a few years ago and he didn’t have ACLs left because they felt it was a chance at a top 5 talent at the end of the first

which is why you aren't a GM.

and I know that I'm giving NFL GM's too much credit here...

I am not saying that you are wrong, but I'm genuinely interested to know if there are any other post hip-injury comparisons besides Bo?

i believe he can do both.

Obviously depends on the language in the policy, but many of these have language around just not being drafted in the 1st round.

So he can theoretically go to the draft, not get drafted in the 1st round, collect millions, get drafted in 2nd round and with the millions he already has from insurance, he just starts his NFL career.

At least that's how I understand it.

Part of the problem is that as I understand it he will still be rehabbing during the combines and workouts. So anybody who drafts him will be doing so with some degree of uncertainty.

There was a Ravens TE a few years ago whose name escapes me. He had a dislocated hip and returned, but subsequently reinjured it and retired. I dont know how similar the injury was.
