I'm not wrong. He is nowhere near Trout.

I got blasted for saying Harper was overrated last year. In 5 seasons he's hit over .275 once
interesting that you chose .275, when he hit .270, .274, and .273 his first 3 years.

Batting average by itself tells nothing about how valuable a player is. Joey Gallo has been the most valuable Ranger to date and he is hitting .200.

i mean harper is pretty much having a slightly poorer mans bonds type season right now with his power and ability to get on base

And still it is basically a wash b/w them. Harper at his absolute peak is maybe marginally better.

I don't think there is really any question that Mike Trout is the best baseball player on the planet and I think Harper is absolutely fantastic. But Trout is Mickey Mantle.

Be honest with yourself and don't choose arbitrary numbers to make your argument look better.

And also learn about other stats besides batting average.

Right now probably isn't the best time to toot your horn about that opinion.

he's on pace for 48 HR 138 RBI 176 R and is getting on base 50% of the time he steps to the plate.

he played hurt most of last year. It has become clear that 2015 is who Harper is when fully healthy.

wRC+ is the best single statistic to judge hitting performance.

What is wRC+?

Trout. He is consistently better than Harper offensively, defensively, and as a base runner. Harper is better in spurts but that's it.

We'll see. Until he has consistent MVP caliber seasons like Trout I'll shut up. Until then He has had 3 above average seasons, 1 shite season and one great season.

what hes doing right now is exacty what bonds was doing before he went nuts on the roids

walking more than he strikeouts, having an ISO above 340, getting on base virtually 50% of the time, running a wRC+ over 200...remind you of someone?

Harper BABIP
2012-.310, 2013-.306, 2014-.352, 2015-.369, 2016-.264, 2017.416

Trout BABIP
2012-.383, 2013-.376, 2014-.349, 2015-,344, 2016-.371, 2017-.388

Harper is worth 0.4 more WAR through 31 games while having a very unsustainable BABIP, while Trout is just doing what he does every year for the past six.
