Leonard Fournette started this quitting phase

Travis if you are listening, don’t marry that stripper. It won’t work out.

Guys team-hopping. Your star player may be playing tor your biggest rival next year.
CFB used to be tribal which is why it elicited so much passion. That's pretty much out the window now

Exactly the guy turned down the bama and Ohio states of the world to go to Jackson state as the number one recruit. Call him dumb, call prime manipulative, but at the end of the day it’s a guy that knew he could dominate wherever he went. And he did.
Whether Deion forced him to play both sides of the ball for selfish reasons is irrelevant. He did it and he excelled at both.
I’m not a huge Deion fan but hunter was the best “football player” in the country this year. Jeanty was the best RB. And respect to them playing in the bowl game with that $ on the line.

It’s not really about what round they are projected. One bowl game isn’t going to make or break their draft stock. Unless they were to get injured of course, which is a big reason as to why they opt out.
You think it's going to make or break the draft stock of Hunter or Shedeur?

Yes it has. Scott Matlock is doing it currently

Dion would kick his arse if he didn’t so I’m sure he’s trying to avoid that

I'm sure he has a huge injury policy with Lloyd's of London should he get injured, but personally, I wouldn't play in a totally meaningless game because it could possibly derail all of his NFL dreams. Yes, he would get paid by Lloyd's of London, but his dreams of becoming an NFL star would be gone if he suffered a major knee injury.

I have no problem with guys opting out of bowl games. It is pretty cool though when some of them do decide to play
This.
And it’s honestly better for LSU if top guys opt out. Young guys get very valuable experience in practice and a real game before next year. And it protects our NFL bound guys, who we want to be drafted high and do well as it’s our strongest marketing tactic.

This may be one of the most retarded post I’ve ever read. Awesome way to start the week

I get why you don’t like it. I’m asking how it makes the product garbage.

Fournette and McCaffery were, indeed, the first to opt out of bowl games, but their situation was different than today’s opt-outs. Both Fournette and McCaffery had fought injuries throughout that season and were far from 100 percent healthy. Whereas today’s players are opting out even when healthy and good to go. Big difference!

It sucks when people skip a bowl game, but I won't fault anyone for protecting their millions of dollars.

You're right, I'm sure McCaffrey chose to sit out of their game against Notre Dame just because..

Agreed, but I understand their point of view.

they shouldn't be invited to stand on the sidelines if they do.

The draw of college football is the tribalism, not the quality of play. The NFL is a much higher level product, but CFB maintained a place in people's hearts because it's your school and largely kids from that area. There is true hatred for rivals. Now players move hop from rival to rival on a year-to-year basis. It's breaking down the sense of my tribe vs your tribe.
It may work by bringing in enough new fans to replace the ones that lose interest. We'll see. To me CFB has lost what made it unique and you're left with subpar players and coaches compared to the NFL. Similar to the WNBA, but obviously not that bad, as some college players go on to the NFL.
