He also might not make the team, devastating him and probably making you question the tens of thousands of dollars you poured into this... invesment.
Maybe REC ball wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Maybe, but after 12 you know that and do exactly what I said earlier or choose a school more appropriate. I Would rather give him a chance to make the team than make the decision for him before he is even 9.
And if you get into travel worrying if the money is going to be well spent or you will regret spending it if they quit....well you are in it for the wrong reasons and you honestly can't afford it or you don't value the time spent with your kid.

I don't know about your kids high school coach but ours asked how many USSSA rings our players had, if they didn't have at least 20, they were cut!

3. The high school coach you send your kid to probably knows more baseball than you do.
Unless you
A) Start Varsity as a Frosh
B) Attend a very small % of HS that develop underclassmen.
This is false by a LOT.

Add: If they want to play football or some other fall sport, encourage them to do it.
Only the big privates and the bigger 5A schools have enough athletes to have players dedicated to one sport and still have enough good players in all sports.
