No he doesn't. If he stretches the ball on purpose then a football move has been made.

And I don't understand the problem with the call. If the refs got it wrong, then the NFL will clearly admit it and apologize on Monday. Just ask Detroit.

You are a dumb arse. fricking Mike Pereira even said himself that it was disputable on the football move. That single statement is all you need to make the ruling on the field stand. You cannot throw away the fact that the ruling was of a completed catch.

so he didn't take this into consideration when saying that it was the correct call? Unless I forgot what he said?

Yes.

Do you have disputable evidence that he isn't?

Because if you don't, that call has to stand.

Which he never made.

Falling and stumbling isn't a football move. I don't see a reach either.

The second he stretches that ball out to the goal line, he is making a football move. At that moment, it is a catch.

False, because he hasn't completed the act of the catch. Imagine this play taking place at the 40 yard line and he is "stretching" for the 39. It is an incomplete pass. You're implying moving the football forward at all constitutes a completion. At what point in his "stretch" is he "stretching" and it becomes a catch? You're saying it is a catch at that point, so exactly what point is that?

Exactly.

Mike P said this, and Howie Long immediately wanted to call him out for it. I'm guessing his producers told him not to.

If it's disputable whether or not it's a football move, that call HAS to stand.

Mike P is awful, anyway.

quote:

When a catch is made by a receiver who comes down with both feet on the ground, the "football move" would be: stretching for a first down, diving out-of-bounds or running with the ball. If the "football move" is accomplished, and the receiver is then hit and the ball comes out, it is ruled a catch and fumble, instead of an incomplete forward pass.

Didn't appear to be so. He stated himself that he wasn't sure. The question they asked him was if it we're a catch. Not if the call should stand. So yea maybe he didn't realize he basically said the ruling should stand.

False.

Stretching for a first down is a football move.

A touchdown is a first down.

I don't know who that dean guy is but three refs all agreeing with the call.

Sounds like a good call.

Wait, so a bunch of NFL referees are going to agree with their co-workers and stick behind them?

They have a union, you know.

You clearly can't admit when you're wrong, so I will no longer waste my time. But, you are wrong. Tough pill to swallow. It's hard to be a contrarian sometimes.
