Anytime. Congrats on getting into a conference ditched by athletic juggernaut Tulane.

No one said anything about moving UP to USA. In fact, I'd venture to say that the new USA is a step down from where Tech used to play in the Old WAC (Boise St, Fresno, Utah St etc). It's definitely better than the Sh!thole that is the SunBelt right now. Check out RaginPagin, talk about desperation. Those nut jobs are going postal if they don't get a USA invite this year.

The anger phase of our grieving process is done. The only pain that I personally felt was a feeling of being left behind in the SBC by big market teams. After the dust settled, I realized the only teams I would be excited to play in nuCUSA would be Tech and USM.

Arkansas State and Texas State will fill that void for me for the time being.

I wish more fans of your respective schools could post rationally like each of your last 2 posts in this thread.

Its about time. He brought a major embarrassment on the school and needed to be held accountable for his frick up. Its funny though, the fools on the Tech board actually put more blame on the Indy Bowl than they do BVDV. Because apparently after Van De Velde held out for something better, the Indy Bowl had some obligation to Tech to wait one more day for Van De Velde's decision.

There was a lot of blame to go around. Bruce was blind-sided by the NIU invite to the Orange Bowl at the last second, and the Indy Bowl could have waited a few more hours (not days) for all their options to play out.

Why should the Independence Bowl wait when they clearly had other teams that were happy to accept an invitation? Nobody wants to be the second choice prom date.

This was a clear case of Tech not being able to self-evaluate their own place in the pecking order.

Tech/ULM was the game they wanted. The Independence Bowl has always been a bowl you are relegated to, not a bowl you would choose.

You are right about the misevaluating of the pecking order. But the pecking order changed at the last minute. When NIU got the Orange Bowl spot, it knocked everyone down one spot in the pecking order.

Keep believing that spin if you want but it's wrong. It was obvious the rankings would shake that way once the games played out the way they did. He thought the Liberty would take them even though they flat out told him they would take Iowa St if they were available. Indy didn't want to wait around and potentially get stuck with a 6-6 Central Michigan.

I thought USA would be deciding about conference expansion in their summer meetings?

Partially right. The HOD Bowl was going to trade Iowa St to the Liberty Bowl and take Tech. But when NIU made the Orange Bowl, it knocked Iowa State down a notch and made them available for the Liberty Bowl to take without a trade.
