They haven't won a Rose Bowl since 1917. As far as prestigious Pac-10 programs go, they are about half way down the list at least.

I'm not saying it's unreasonable if you're Catholic and hate ND (I actually used to be that way). But I don't see how it's unreasonable, by the same token, if you're Catholic and like ND.

This is the only list that's correct.

With zero facts to back this up I believe ND probably has the largest fan base in the country.

Texas won 2 titles in the 60's, 1 in the 70's, and 1 in the 2000's.

They are clearly not just a NOW school.

Any NOW (or alot of recent success schools) to me are Miami, Florida State, Florida, etc.

But teams that have been good throughout...

Big 12:
Texas
Oklahoma
Nebraska

SEC:
Alabama
LSU
Tennessee

Big Ten
Penn State
Ohio State
Michigan

Pac-10
USC

Others
Notre Dame

one mediocre decade does not do a program in...

So here's how I'd rank them in all-time prestige...

1. Notre Dame
2. Alabama
3. USC
4. Oklahoma
5. Texas
6. Ohio State
7. Michigan
8. Nebraska
9...the rest

Im not a great SEC history guy. It just seemed that the last 20 years would get them in the top 3. Also didnt LSU have a mediocre run before the last 10 years or so? Not a flame, just asking.

What about the old juggernaut service acadamies like Army and Navy? Amry used to be a great program winning 3 national titles in 1914, 1944 and 1945. Army boasts 3 Heisman Trophy winners and 26 Hall of Famers. Their overall win-loss is pretty good too at 636-449. Navy has won 1 national title in 1926. Navy boasts 2 Heisman Trophy winners and is 640-520 overall. If we are talking "prestige", ive always thought of Army and Navy as prestigious institutions.

Flordia didn't win their 1st SEC title until the 1990s. Bama, UT, LSU, UGA all have 10+ SEC titles, 50+ wins more than Florida, and more bowl games.

3 Southern California
4 Oklahoma
5 Michigan
6 Ohio St.
7 Texas
8 Nebraska
9 Louisiana St.
10 Tennessee
11 Georgia
12 Penn St.

I like this web site and I think the top 8 are clear cut above the rest. I like LSU at 9 right behind the big boys. I would have thought around 12th.

My order for the top 8 would be:

1) Notre Dame
2) Alabama
3)Oklahoma
4) Nebraska
5) Michigan
6) USC
7) Ohio St
8) Texas
