Brees has the lowest career yds per completion on the entire Top 40 list that I produced.

Bradshaw is too low for reasons others have said.

The first 3 criteria you have are team, not qb, accomplishments. How many QBs worse than Marino won a Super Bowl?

Marino should be higher. He was handicapped for years by a terrible defense and probably over the hill coach.

It’s an impossible task, but the deficiencies are shown by having guys like Gannon, Ryan and Wilson on the list and not guys like Matthew Stanford (9th all time passing tds) and Boomer Esiason.

Jim Kelly is also ridiculously low. His offense changed the way the game was played.

Again, impossible task and thanks for your work. Just my 2 cents.

Genius comment. Football is after all a team sport. But I believe the QB is the single most important player on the team. And no garbage QB has ever won a Super Bowl. Although, some average QBs have won SBs. Honestly, every single QB stat depends on another teammate. A WR to catch. An O-line to block and protect. A coach to call plays. I used the 20 criteria that were available to compare QBs from 1940s until present. It ain’t a perfect ranking, but it is objective and a lot of thought went into it.

Staubach at 15 seems really low

Statically speaking, Staubach had 7 super seasons and was a starter for 8. Guys like Tittle, Tarkenton, Brees, Favre, Unitas, Manning and Brady played at a high level for more than twice as long as Staubach. Longevity is important on this list. But Staubach’s 8 years rival the best of them.

No.

Look he is good, really good. Has the potential to be the GOAT but he is 5 years in the league. If his career ended right now, would he be on this list?

I’d probably put Montana, Marino, Tarkenton, Staubach, and Brees in the 2-6 spots followed by Unitas and Graham then I’d put Fouts at 9. Fouts was absurdly good and tough as a QB and ushered in the new era of passing offense.

Trent Dilfer?

I know he was actually the backup entering the season but technically speaking he was their QB at the end. He was one of the few exceptions though

Aikman at 35 is the most glaring W. T. F. on your list. I think you have Elway several spots too low but Aikman's contemporary rival was Steve Young. Wherever you rank Steve Young, Aikman should be within two spots either way. Put either on the other's team and it probably works out the same.

Jimmy Johnson said Aikman could have put up ridiculous stats if the Cowboys had needed him to. They didn't. He was spectacular and took savage Burrow-like beatings his first year or two. He was a damned tough SOB.

Your list isn't terrible, but Aikman was a 1st ballot lock HOF. Most of the QBs above him were not.

7. Aaron Rodgers (Active - in striking distance of Favre, Montana & Graham)
8. Dan Marino (HOF)
9. Drew Brees
10. John Elway (HOF)
11. Steve Young (HOF)
12. Y.A. Tittle (HOF)
13. Fran Tarkenton (HOF)
14. Sammy Baugh (HOF)
15. Roger Staubach (HOF)

I would go:
1. Brady
2. Montana
3. Elway
4. Peyton
5. Unitas
6. Marino
7. Graham
8. Rodgers
9. Favre - I generally rank Favre lower than others just because he was reckless at times.
10. Brees
11. Aikman
12. Young
13. Staubach
14. Tittle
15. Tarkenton

I’d say Trent Dilfer was an average QB at the time of his SB win. He was a Pro Bowler 3 seasons prior with TB. That Baltimore D certainly brought home the championship.
