It was very close between Favre and Brees. Favre led in the following stats: Super Bowl appearances, MVPs and All-Pros. He was also named to NFL All Decade Team and NFL 100 All-Time Team, Brees was not
For me personally, I'm not a fan of those items being part of a data set. They're all either team specific or just an award decided on generally by reporters. I rather make my own determinations than letting those dudes tell me who is better. To each his own though, I appreciate you sharing the list, and a bit of the background on how it was derived.

played about 45 games for the Colts. Thats the biggest what if for Peyton because he was probably the best defensive player of his generation and would have made an enormous difference in the playoffs
Even an Andy Dalton level QB could have won at least 3/4 of those Montana superbowls.
In the 4 Superbowl runs 49ers D averaged 13 ppg and the rushing offense averaged 140 yards. Its virtually impossible to lose with those numbers
I'm curious what point this endeavors to make so I will recap this convo to this point
me (the argument):
quote:
Well Montana and Manning did play with relatively equal talent majority of their careers and Montana won more Super Bowls so what does that tell you?
you:
quote:
you have to be kidding. Please tell me you're joking.
The 49ers were 1000x more talented than the Colts/Broncos. 49ers had a top 5 Running game and top 5 defense almost every single year.
In their 4 Superbowl runs the 49ers D averaged 13 ppg and the 49ers rushing offnse averaged abou 140 ypg. Any decent QB could have won those Superbowls the 49ers were beyond stacked.
my rebuttal establishing the talented supporting cast which surrounded Peyton in Indy to advance my point:
quote:
So are we now arguing that Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, and Edgerrin James aren’t talented? Gimme a break those Colts teams were Uber-talented and Manning solidified it all, you’re arguing a lost cause brah.
your response:
quote:
compare the Peyton's Colts Defense and Running Gane in the playoffs to Montana's 49ers Defense and Running Game its a MASSIVE difference.
I perceive this as a deflection than a rebuttal since I established the talent on those Colts teams which contended every year got their arse kicked by inferior teams talent-wise (Patriots) and were coached by a defensive guru Tony Dungy
my coup de grace:
quote:
So let me get this straight: we're talking about teams Peyton played for which consisted of Peyton himself, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai (2007 Pro Bowler), Jeff Saturday, Dominic Rhodes, Tarik Glenn, Pierre Garçon on offense, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Bob Sanders, Jason David (good enough for the Saints to sign to a 4-year offer sheet), Antoine Bethea on defense with HALL OF FAME coach Tony Dungy as HC, contended every year, won ONLY ONE Super Bowl, and you're still trying to argue Peyton's merits over Montana who WON 4?? Yeah this is a major reach. Notwithstanding Denver's legendary defense during the early-mid 2010s, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker, Julius Thomas, Louis Vasquez, CJ Anderson, etc all those great coaches on staff and won ONLY ONE Super Bowl there too.
dude, you're really reaching here, you're telling me that all this talent wouldn't measure up to what Montana worked with in San Fran, yeah I greatly disagree

EYE TEST ......
Otto Gramahm's last season was 1955. For you to have any reasonable ability to evaluate his play with the eye test, like you say, you'd need to be a minimum of 80 years old.
Go take a nap, grandpa

my rebuttal establishing the talented supporting cast which surrounded Peyton in Indy to advance my point
In Monatana's 4 super bowl runs the Niners averaged 13 ppg against and 150 rushing yards. Its nearly impossible to lose as a QB with that production from your Running game and D
Peyton's teams have only had 150+ rushing yards twice in his entire career both during 2006 and what do you know they won the Superbowl

and Graham at 3 ahead of Montana at 5? And Elway at 12 behind Marino? GTFO.
Graham led the rookies in hall of fame game vs champ packers.
graham.won easily.
I dont know the 18 data points but Graham probably has better yards per run.
graham won nfl championships immediately.
Montana did not.
every game counts
