Heard from an official who called the Div. 1 nonselect finals the head of officials for the LHSAA was very upset with the STM coach during his game. Supposedly The STM coach said something about how bad the official were. The LHSAA guy must be A lipreader and he must feel gulity for the job that crew did because the were awful. Also Newman's appeal hearing should be coming up l wonder what will happen. Opelousas football got caught doing the same thing and took their punishment, but they don't have the money and lawyers that Newman does. Should be interesting I think Bonine doesn't like to lose, but Livingston doesn't either. Guess it depends on who blinks first

Cher bebe

He should be more upset at the fact that officiating across the state has dropped under his watch.

They were down 22-0, not sure how much you can attribute to the officiating

Officiating hasn't been consistent across the board for years in most sports. It is what it is at this point. Won't get any better without any accountability and we know they won't ever be held accountable, individually, as a crew or as an association.

The officials did absolutely suck, both ways.
Inconsistent refs are as bad as cheating refs.
Liberty is solid and very athletic. But, stm spotted them 20 pts and cut it to 2 at the end.
If they play 10 times, all things equal, STM wins 9

Refs were just bad, not necessarily one sided, except style of play they allowed favored Liberty.

What's STM crying about now? Shouldn't they be more concerned on who they hire at that school?

people have to realize the officiating in a high school sporting event will be as good as the kids are at playing the sport. if you expect professional officiating at a high school event you will be disappointed every time.

I would add to your last point that it won’t matter. I referee youth soccer in GA and have a friend who is a MLS official. He did some youth matches with me a few weeks back and the ignorance shown by spectators was astounding. He was screamed at by people who have ZERO clue how to officiate a high level youth match. The coaches and players didn’t say a word all game.

Coach Danny is pretty outspoken about giving credit where it is due and calling things out that need to be. That being said, it seemed like the officials and STM were not ready for the opening 5 mins of the first quarter. It was a massacre. Now how much of that was STM reeling because the reffs didnt call anything at all, either way and Liberty took advantage of it. Reff crews typically hold back in Semi Finals and Finals to let the teams play a bit more than usual. But this was kind of shocking how the reffs simply didnt call anything against either team.

Liberty was a well coached and disciplined team that won the game on the floor, I didnt hear Coach Danny say anything to take away from that. Liberty was red hot from the field including 3Ptrs in the first quarter/half. STM clawing back and getting it down to 2 when it was 26 at one point is pretty amazing.

IMHO the game came down to the call in the 4th when STM's Gardner drove to the basket, made the layup, foul was called and it was ruled a charge. If that basket stands, STM is shooting a FT to tie the game with under 2mins to play. It goes the other way, Liberty scores, extends the lead to five and they made enough FTs in the end to close it out.
Props to them
