Anyone else listening in?

Good interview so far despite some technical difficulties.

Just said that he probably knew before this past season that it was going to be his last in New England. Said he felt like he wasn't sure he could play at his highest level if he had stayed a Patriot, so he decided to give a shot elsewhere to prove to himself that he could.

Not super exciting, but what the hell else is there to talk about.

Did he ask about his dick size, a favorite Stern topic, given his lack of manhood?

Brady said he turned trump down for speaking at the RNC in 2016. Didn’t want to mix into politics

Trump and Kraft are basically still pretty good friends it seems. He is also still pretty friendly with Belichick I think, especially after Bill a few yrs ago came out and read that letter saying he's not a political person and has just always been treated great by Trump.
He even said the Trump White House visit in 2016 was the most welcoming they had ever had... And that coming from a guy who visited the white house across 4 different regimes.

Reagan as an assistant, W., Obama, and Trump.

I think Brady pretty much burned his bridge with Trump, though, by retreating from the topic in public. He and Trump went back years, and by all accounts were pretty good friends. But once Giselle got involved and he didn't go to the White House, Trump pretty much never mentioned Brady again, but still praised Kraft and Belichick.

Trump is all about loyalty. I don't necessarily blame Brady for backing away because I think he just didn't Even want to deal with the bullshite, but he could have told everyone just to piss off, he's my friend from way before he was president. You don't like it, tough

Trump actually namechecked Tom Brady recently (I can't remember where but it was definitely during this COVID shutdown) and said they had spoken that week. So I think that you are right that Trump was butthurt when Brady didn't visit the White House after their two Super Bowl wins (because Gisele wouldn't let him), but it seems like they're okay now.

Gisele's industry is insanely left wing and she still pulls in like $40 million a year. So it's kind of a no brainer for Brady to back down publicly regarding Trump and not jeopardize his wife's career. The entire storyline is fascinating to me though. Trump is super obnoxious about his endorsements and has zero chill. I can see Brady cringing in 2016 when Trump kept talking about him in New Hampshire and Maine.

Why couldn't he have played to his highest level as a patriot?

Patriots are rebuilding. Doesn't make sense for them to spend $30 million or more on Brady when they can't compete for a SB. Doesn't make sense for Tom either b/c he only has 2 years left and wants to win.

Actually it would be 5 with GHWB since he was a DC for the Giants' '90 run
