So Burrow did not have that much to do with how great LSU was last year???

Of course he did but he does not have the greatest season ever if he had signed with Cincinnati (Bearkats) after leaving Ohio State. what is 100% certain is that you will still miss the point because you can not grasp the simple fact that 2 things can be true at the same time

this idea that Brady's had no weapons has been over-exaggerated. LAST YEAR the Patriots O was pretty bad but it was also the first year without Gronk. Wasn't really an issue in 2017-18

After 2017 it fell off a cliff.

2018 was truly amazing they won a Super Bowl with Edleman and 20 percent of Gronk

After that 2017 loss to the eagles, they traded cooks, Gronk hasn’t been that level since, and Edleman has played worse every season since and the veteran fill ins they used to replace that production have all mostly been terrible

That’s 3 straight seasons of having sub par weapons, which ended up wasting possibly the pats best defense of the decade last year

Add on the fact that like 50 elite WR prospects have come into the league since that 2018 draft seemingly, and its real bad

That’s been his whole career. One of the hallmarks of Brady’s success over the years has been making guys better than they were previously or after him. Offhand some of the best he ever had were Deion Branch, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman and maybe Troy Brown or Amendola. Of these, the only possible HoF player is Welker.

I don’t include Gronk since he’s a TE but he’s obviously one of the best pass catchers Brady ever had and would have been successful anywhere imo. Same with great pass catching RBs like Faulk.

The only true, no-brainer first ballot HOF WR he ever played with was Randy Moss and they proceeded to break records left and right the first season.

Since you a Patriots guy, what was the beef and sticking point regarding Brady and not getting him more weapons in New England?

Belicheck isn’t good at drafting or developing WRs through the draft, and he doesn’t really try to either

That’s compounded by the fact he doesn’t value #1 WRs enough to pay the high money that comes with a top end WR

Brady is extremely impatient with young WRs so he’s partly to blame for the inability for young WRs to develop in NE, as they seem to never be able to change their first impression as a rookie. They never seem to gain the trust of the QB or coaching staff when they get in the building.

Brady got frustrated with that constant issue, and had an opportunity to go to a situation loaded with young pass catchers that were also veteran enough that he knew he wouldn’t have to count on guys he was unsure of.

Weirdly enough, if Antonio Brown could’ve kept his head on straight for that whole season then I think Brady’s free agency might play out a whole lot differently.

I know this a popular meme but also grossly exaggerated. What elite weapons has Rodgers had? Brees? Manning in Denver?

Their run game was good and the defense was absolutely elite last year. I think the defense may have outscored all opponents on their own for like the first 4 games of last season or something crazy like that

Manning had them most of his career. Aside from Harrison and Wayne in Indy, he had Demaryious Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders on the Denver Super Bowl team.

Rodgers has had numerous too in Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, now Davante Adams.

I feel like all of those guys are better than any Brady had except for Moss. Welker would be on a similar level to some of those. All else are worse.

Brees has been similar I’d say to Brady. Top 2 have to be Marques Colston (criminally underrated) and Thomas. He had Horn for a year and now Sanders. Graham is the Gronk analog. Maybe throw in Cooks. Otherwise similar ok talent at WR that Brees made look way better. Countless examples.

It’s one reason why, to me, Brady and Brees are top 2 all time. They didn’t usually have the best weapons but they still won a lot, put up points in bunches and own records for days. That beats Manning imo.

Defense was very good last year.

His WRs and TEs were bad. Add in losing your starting center and 2 FBs and yeah, have fun trying to score points.

The run game was actually bad too

18th in YPG last year, despite being 9th in attempts

3.8 YPC was good for 26th in the league last year tied with Atlanta

Their longest run all season was 33 yards

That whole offense was a mess because no one even took the WRs as a threat and they didn’t have Gronk there as an extra tackle like they did in 2018

Was it 2018 then when they were dominant running the ball?

Yeah they essentially won a Super Bowl Running behind Gronk and Trent brown, Joe Thuney and Shaq mason etc etc

ETA to be clear I meant in the specific Super Bowl game the run game won them the game. Brady lead them in both rounds with his arm and they finished with a ton of rushing TDs because they had a ton of goal line opportunities
