I know I just picked but I can have a little write up for them ready in about 5 if needed/interested

We’ll give him another hour, but he posted on the SEC Rant after I bumped this thread, so he’s not checking it. I think 7pm CT can be his cutoff time, then we can have someone else take his spot. That sound fair?

Should someone pick for Minnesota? It’s been about 8 hours.

Two hours was the cap I thought. Someone make his pick.

For the 22nd pick in the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select:
Kristian Fulton CB, LSU
A highly-regarded high school recruit, It took some time for Fulton to see the field but he was worth the wait. Fulton was dominant in 2018 and even better as a senior. Everything he does is so natural and he’s always comfortable in every situation. Playing a challenging position like cornerback often leads to panicky moments but Fulton is cool as a cucumber. Fulton has smooth feet, fluid hips, refined technique, tremendous awareness and the physicality needed to become a shutdown No. 1 corner in the NFL. He’s versatile to play any coverage technique and he handles physical receivers just as effectively as the twitchy ones. Fulton does have room for upward progress as a run defender and playing through contact, but he’s far from a liability. Fulton has the experience, technique and physical tools to start early in his career and develop into one of the best players at his position in the league.
Similar to Philadelphia, without a top WR still available here the Vikings choose to get an immediate starter on defense. They will look to fill holes at WR and DE/Edge rusher on day two.

Should someone else take the second Minnesota pick?
Posted on 4/18/20 at 8:12 pm to OleVaught14
Works with me. I’ll put the next person up.

When I wanted someone to make his pick I didn’t mean someone make his pick with a player I was hoping would fall to me at 32!
Just screwing around. I hope Fulton goes in the first. He’s talented enough too.
And fair warning. I’m going to have to put my kids to bed in a little bit and I’ll probably follow. Don’t give away my pick tonight as I’ll make it first thing in the morning.

Yeah Fulton has the talent to go anywhere after about pick 20. I don't think he'll be a superstar, but he should be a very good CB1 in the league for many years.

Patriots select...
Patrick Queen, LB LSU
After hemorrhaging Linebackers in FA, and Hightower getting older by the snap, pats replenish the well and add a chess piece linebacker with the best instincts at LB in the draft.

I don't know, man... the Patriots usually prefer bigger linebackers.
Dont'a Hightower - 6-3, 260
Jamie Collins - 6-3, 250
Kyle Van Noy - 6-3, 245
Rob Ninkovich - 6-3, 260
Jerod Mayo - 6-2, 245
Tedy Bruschi - 6-1, 247
Mike Vrabel - 6-4, 260
Ted Johnson - 6-4, 253
Not saying they wouldn't take Queen, but it'd be a pretty big departure from their standard operating procedure.

My thought as well. They are a big "system" team and he doesn't fit their typical mold. Queen is a great player, but doubt the Patriots take him
Posted on 4/18/20 at 9:49 pm to OleVaught14
Well thanks for that. Now I can take the linebacker I actually want without all my fellow LSU homers giving me shite about not taking queen.
New Orleans Saints select ....
Zack Baun- Linebacker- Wisconsin.

I think the Patriots would take Baun instead of Queen. If the Pats don't, I’m not sure he gets picked until the 2nd Round.

He's talented, but more of a 3-4 defense edge rushed LB more than anything. Saints will need to beef him up a bit to turn him into a 4-3 DE

Baun is not dropping to the 2nd. Packers or Ravens will grab him later in the first if someone else doesn't. Dude is an animal

No one wants to see a Ted Johnson type try to tackle Patrick Mahommes.
Queen adds an element of speed missing from the Pats front 7 currently.

He's almost exactly same size as Anzalone who's been great for the saints when healthy. Same speed . Dude flies around and lays the wood. I'd be thrilled with this pick if it happened.

Trust me... I'm leaving open the possibility that Belichick sees the game evolving in a way where he would put a premium on speed over size from his linebackers. Once upon a time, it was rumored that he also really liked Jonathan Vilma, who also wouldn't have fit the big LB mold.
Devil's advocate, though... if the Patriots are looking to add speed in the form of a bigger body, couldn't they also take a look at Jeremy Chinn, who's certainly longer than Queen, probably more athletic, and who probably fits the NE scheme a little better?
