haha true true.
However, like i said in coverage (minus the instincts) they are both lacking of skill.

roy williams highlight tape was pretty damn good out of college

he made more plays in one game than Mays has his whole career

This.

Mays is stiff and struggles in coverage. For all of the hype, I didn't see him make many game changing plays. He's always looking for the big hit though.

His instincts don't seem great either because, for all of his speed, he was late on a lot of throws that I saw. In particular, I remember a couple of TDs in the ND and Oregon State games where he was a step late in coverage.

I think he'll be a SS if he can learn to tackle better and assuming he has the instincts. Otherwise, I can see him getting moved to OLB in a 4-3, like Carolina did with Thomas Davis.

I find this analyis odd because the NFLn guys were praising Chad's performance and talking about how smooth he was. And from what I saw, I'd agree. He looked pretty good in the drills.

They didn't talk about him too much but at one point they said he looked natural dropping back and probably because he played baseball.

Dennis Rogan's decision to leave Tennessee early was clearly an epic fail of epic proportions. What an idiot.

No, Rogan just decided to leave early. Dude is apparently scared of the classroom and he might have been thrown out eventually. But he was gonna be our best corner easily.

Saw this article, and it is a reminder that 40 times are highly embellished from HS through college.

LINK

quote:

What do the substantial differences in those numbers say about the potential of Joe Haden and Taylor Mays as pro prospects? Probably nothing, especially relative to the importance they may play in their actual draft status (which will likely be smaller than the initial reactions suggest). What does it say about those too-good-to-be-true 40 times often attached to college players and recruits? Overwhelmingly, they really are too good to be true. Even the pros have a tendency toward exaggeration and high variability. The only players this year who ran an official time below 4.4 -- Holliday, Cal's Jahvid Best and Clemson teammates Jacoby Ford and C.J. Spiller -- were all first-rate NCAA sprinters; Holliday and Ford (who put up the fastest official time at 4.28) are borderline Olympians. If a sub-4.4 time is attached to anyone else -- such as, say, a 235-pound quarterback -- there's no reason to believe it.
