2 months before Nike signed CK to be the face of its promo campaign they semi-quietly announced a $17 billion dollar stock buy back.
Nike has always been cash strong and after several years of slow to negative gains used the proven stock buy back method to raise stock prices. The stock price rise is real but helped by the buy back.
The CK campaign is a expensive diversion from the harassment suits filed against them in the last 4 months. And has been very effective. Everyone is talking about him and not the dozens and dozens of suits filed and a least 10 high level executives ushered out the door. Nike has the worst history of any company in the last 35 years that I can remember.After one of the CBS investigative shows did a negative piece on Nike's workplace violence in Indonesia they simply bought CBS with a huge ad deal for the Olympics and squashed the follow up episode.

The boycott didn’t fail. People that disagreed with Nike have chosen to no longer buy their products. And They will likely continue to choose to shop elsewhere. I don’t think anyone is trying to actually do significant damage to them financially, people are just telling themselves “I am not going to support this company “. People do these things all the time. I guess you’d say I boycotted ESPN when the truth is I just stopped putting the channel on because I didn’t want to watch it. Something they said or did turned me off so I just didn’t care to watch their programming anymore. It wasn’t this big conscious decision I made with the intent of making a statement about my beliefs or what not, I was just avoiding the channel, I was no longer interested in watching ESPN.

I am not a CK fan nor was i before the kneeling and am still not today.
The timing was intentional as well. They got hit with a huge lawsuit for discrimination and sexual harassment last week. Nobody is talking about that because they used social issues as a distraction.
So everyone who bought Nike as a middle finger to America is not only further enriching a white male billionaire with a long and shameful record of exploiting slave labor, but also rewarding patriarchy. Good job, idiots.
