re: Tiger's majors career is done. Nicklaus is, and always will be, the GOAT..

That's true, but using your argument, fields are deeper now, and majors are much harder to win. It was much easier for Jack to win 5 after age 38 than it will be for Tiger.

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson, Tiger can handle the truth.

Except it isn't truth. It's your opinion, and I think it's wrong.

Another amazing stat: Jack has almost double the top 5 finishes in majors over Tiger. 56 to Tiger's 31.
I don't see Tiger getting 5 more majors, much less than many more top 5s.
Tiger was flat out amazing during 2 of his 3 year stretches. Stil one of the best currently, but not the GOAT from a career perspective IMO. Being #2 on that list isn't bad.

Finally someone with some sense has come in here and logically explained an opinion. Unlike MM who just calls people idiots and then says if he get's there so be it if not, I told you so. That's the Peej win-win approach right there.

He's better than jack. It was harder for tiger get to 14 by the age of 38.

Majors= rings.
For these guys it is all that matters when you talk about GOAT status. FedEx champ does not mean shite to Tiger. POY is nice but meh for a guy like tiger. Even the $10 million is meh for Tiger.
Tiger said 18 was the only number because it is true.
You can argue for him to be GOAT but I will always disagree. He gets to 18 I will tip my cap.
Hagen is not included because he is nowhere near modern era. Jack was at least around in modern era. Which Palmer carried golf into.
I would say it is a draw between Tiger and Arnold for "who did the most for golf".

uh, no
Tiger turned pro in 1996. This is Tigers 18th year as a pro. Jack turned pro in 1962, and this is what he did during his 18th year
quote:
In 1980, Nicklaus recorded 4 top-10 finishes in 14 events. 2 of these were record-setting victories in the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship.
Nicklaus set a new scoring record for the 1980 U.S. Open with an aggregate of 272, eclipsing his earlier record of 275 from 1967 over the same golf course. That record stood until Rory McIlroy's 268 in winning the 2011 US Open.
In the 1980 PGA Championship, Nicklaus set a record in winning the championship by seven shots. He was the only player to break par for the 72 holes. For the week, the field averaged 74.60 strokes while Nicklaus averaged 68.50. Nicklaus' seven-shot winning margin remains the largest for the championship since it was converted from match play to stroke play.
So far, in 6 events, Tiger has zero wins with 1 Top 10 finish.
He has to enter most of the remaining events, finishing in the Top 10 in 3 of those. Plus win both majors to be on par with Jack.

Based on what? The less hall of famers? The less multi major winners? The fact it was easier to scout courses?

This debate is flawed because there is no telling what Jack could have done with today's equipment and the steroids that Tiger took.

This is not a flaw
Both eras had the tour on equal playing fields
Tiger with new equipment has to beat players with new equipment
Your point pretty much means nothing

He's saying, without the roids and the sweet y2k clubs we all hit these days, he's just another dude shinin shoes outside the club house.
Imagine if GOAT18 had roids instead of doughnuts. Hell, just look at The Stash.
