Faking injuries is stupid. The NCAA or SEC should look at that and levee huge fines. Last night it was blatant that the Ole Miss guys were getting signs and then going down. So bad that even the announcers pointed it out a few times.

He was bobbling the ball and didn’t completely posses it until he was out of bounds. The replay corrected that call.

Fertilizer.

Go? look at the replay linked above. Anderson had full control of the ball, a foot down inbounds and the ball didn't come loose until his other arm hit the turf at which point he is down and the play is over.

I am not questioning if the refs called it right according to the rulebook as written. But, that the rule as-written needs to be changed.

Anderson never had possession of the ball.

Targeting isn't going anywhere btw.

If you want football, that is. Its reduced severe cerbro-spinal injuries by more than 80% at every level its been adopted at-- and that's what's making the continuation of the game even possible.

He caught it with total control. Foot down. Fumbled it when his arm hit the turf which should've been a 'the turf can't cause a fumbled.'

The ball was already moving as he went to the ground. It was moving before he went out of bounds which is where he regained control. Not a catch. Ever.

You can blame the NFL for this. They created the whole “catch must survive the ground“ rule. I don’t really like it either, but that’s the rule now courtesy of NFL.

Let’s define “surviving the ground”

Possession of the ball and it not hitting the ground should be a catch every time… a slight bobble should be irrelevant if the ball never leaves you

15 minute halftimes would be my number one easiest improvement.

A few things that need to happen post haste.

1. Having the replay official in the booth. The whole official running to sideline is legitimately retarded. And if you have to do it, PUT A 80 inch 4k big screen in his face. (No let’s make him look at a 13 inch tiny screen!) retarded.

2. Turn the officials mikes on during the replay review so everyone watching on tv can hear what they are reviewing. It would speed them up twice speed at least.

3. They need to stop throwing players out for targeting. We’ve gotten it under control to a large extent. It can still be a personal foul and two personals and you are out this game and next. I would like them to go back to separating out spearing with the top of your helmet as separate from targeting. That can stay an ejection for spearing. Idiots spearing can paralyze themselves.

I don’t have a problem with the catch rules. They at least apply them correctly

As an aside. How far have we come from DWhites targeting v Bama to last night with Weeks no targeting?

At least we are moving in a good direction

Disagree. It's 2024, use the technology we have an introduce more. And for the love of god add an Official Review Referee in the damn booth already so that the head umpire does not have to go over to the sideline and set up his screen & everything. Adding an Offical Review Ref to each game helps improve your concerns for #1 & #2

It's been that way since replay was started and it still is. The referee isn't ruling on replay, the replay official in the press box is, just like always.

15 minutes isn’t enough time for commercials.

Three Immediate Improvements to the CFB Game

How bout a fourth. The fricking fake injuries allowing for timeouts not to be used has to be corrected. Ole Miss did it last night and has been doing it all year. The player sits out for a play and is allowed to go back in. Should be for the whole series or must sit for two series of downs. Could be from resulting in one or two first downs resulting in new series, whatever, but something needs to happen to deter teams from doing it and taking the momentum from the opposing team.

I cannot fully agree with this. If ref believes he saw it, he should call it. The change should be the game shall continue though. Player has to come out while an Official Replay Review Ref does the review upstairs, if player is cleared he comes back in next play. May suck to lose a player for a play if they did not do anything wrong, but but it's only 1 play and that should also incentivize players to try even more to avoid hitting that area. Bottom line though is it does not hold up gameplay.
What happens to the 15 yards if targeting is overturned? Go back and start again from the previous spot/time, or just give one team 15 yards even though there was no penalty?

When they used to review the ejection but not take the penalty yards away may have been the stupidest thing to ever exist in football.
